    12、ity electronic locks designed for attachment on doors of safes,chests, vaults, and the like, to provide a means of locking the boltwork against unauthorized opening.1.2 These requirements are intended to test the ability of high-security electronic locks to resistunauthorized opening for a limited p

    13、eriod of time. Electronic locks covered by these requirements may ormay not have integral protection against entry by force.1.3 These requirements cover high-security electronic locks powered by low-voltage primary batteries, orfrom Class 2 AC or DC power sources with secondary or primary standby ba

    14、tteries, or they generate theirown power as a function of their operation. If the power supply for a high security electronic lock isconnected to a source of high voltage, the high voltage requirements of the Standard for Power Suppliesfor Use with Burglar Alarm Systems, UL 603, shall apply.2 Genera

    15、l2.1 Units of measurement2.1.1 Values stated without parentheses are the requirement. Values in parentheses are explanatory orapproximate information.2.2 Components2.2.1 Except as indicated in 2.2.2, a component of a product covered by this outline of investigation shallcomply with the requirements

    16、for that component. See Appendix A for a list of standards coveringcomponents used in the products covered by this outline of investigation.2.2.2 A component is not required to comply with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of the comp

    17、onent in theproduct covered by this standard, orb) Is superseded by a requirement in this standard.2.2.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its rating established for the intended conditions ofuse.2.2.4 Specific components are incomplete in construction features or restricted in performanc

    18、ecapabilities.     19、UTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL3 Glossary3.1 For the purpose of this outline of investigation, the following definitions apply.3.2 ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS:a) High-Voltage Circuit A circuit involving a potential of not more than 600 volts and havingcharacteristics in excess of those of a low-voltage or

    20、an isolated limited secondary circuit.b) Low-Voltage Circuit A circuit involving a potential of not more than 30 volts alternatingcurrent (42.4 volts peak or direct current) and supplied by a primary battery or by a standardClass 2 transformer, or by a combination of transformer and fixed impedance

    21、which, as a unit,complies with all the performance requirements for a Class 2 transformer.3.3 PRIMARY BATTERY Any battery which, by construction, is not intended to be recharged.3.4 SECONDARY BATTERY Any battery which, by construction, is intended to be recharged.3.5 STANDBY CONDITION The ready-to-o

    22、perate condition which exists prior to being operated tounlock.4 Installation and Operating Instructions4.1 A copy of the installation and operating instructions, related schematic wiring diagrams andinstallation drawings intended to accompany the product are to be furnished with the sample submitte

    23、dfor investigation. These items are to be used as a guide in the examination and test of the product, andfor this purpose need not be in final printed form.4.2 The instructions and drawings shall include at least the following:a) Typical installation instructions and drawings and complete representa

    24、tive installation wiringdiagram(s) for the product(s) indicating recommended wiring methods.b) A concise description of the operation, testing, and maintenance procedures for theproduct(s), and recommended testing frequency.c) Replacement parts, such as lamps or batteries, identified in the instruct

    25、ions by a partnumber, manufacturers model number, or the equivalent.d) A description of the conditions which might be anticipated as resulting in impaired operationof the product(s).e) A description of any features provided which reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, and awarning against bypass

    26、ing such features.4.3 The instructions may be incorporated on the inside of the product, on a separate sheet, or as part ofa manual. If not included directly on the product, the instructions or manual shall be referenced in themarking information on the product. See Marking, Section 37.MARCH 31, 200

    27、5SUBJECT 20586UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULCONSTRUCTION5 General5.1 A high security electronic lock shall permit a choice of at least 1,000,000 (one million) codes orcombinations. If the lock allows for the use of multiple u

    28、sers, each with their own code or combination, thepossible number of codes or combinations shall be 1,000, 000 times the number of possible users.5.2 Electrical conductors that can be accessed by removing exposed parts of the lock when the lock andthe product that it is used on are secured and locke

    29、d, shall not use electrical connections that can bedisconnected and reconnected without leaving an indication. Such connections shall be soldered, orsimilar methods of connection shall be used that are likely to leave indications that the connection wasopened and remade. Connectors and receptacles s

    30、hall not be used.6 Nonmetallic Parts6.1 Factors taken into consideration when judging the acceptability of nonmetallic parts are:a) mechanical strength,b) resistance to impact,c) moisture absorptive properties, andd) resistance to distortion of the material under conditions of normal or abnormal usa

    31、ge.6.2 Nonmetallic parts shall be classified as 94HB or less flammable in accordance with the Tests forFlammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances, UL 94.6.3 Nonmetallic enclosures shall comply with the Strength Tests for Enclosures, Section 31.7 Assembly7.1 The product sha

    33、ction Against Corrosion8.1 Iron and steel parts, other than bearings and the like where such protection is impracticable, shall beprotected against corrosion by enameling, galvanizing, sherardizing, plating, or other equivalent means.Bearing surfaces shall be of such materials and construction as to

    34、 resist binding due to corrosion.8.2 The requirement specified in 8.1 applies to all enclosures of sheet steel or cast iron and to all springsand other parts upon which intended mechanical operation depend.Exception No. 1: This requirement does not apply to parts such as washers, screws, bolts, and

    35、the like,if corrosion of such unprotected parts would not be likely to impair the operation of the lock.Exception No. 2: Parts made of stainless steel, polished or treated, if necessary, do not require additionalprotection against corrosion.8.3 Metals used in a high security electronic lock shall be

    36、 galvanically compatible.Exception: If galvanic action does not result in impaired operation, this requirement does not apply.8.4 Hinges and other attachments shall be resistant to corrosion.9 Field Wiring Connections9.1 Field wiring terminals9.1.1 As used in these requirements, field-wiring termina

    37、ls are those terminals to which power supply orcontrol connections will be made in the field when the product is installed. See 9.2.1.9.1.2 A field-wiring terminal shall be prevented from turning or shifting in position. This may beaccomplished by means such as two screws or rivets; by square should

    38、ers or mortises; by a dowel pin,lug, or offset; or by a connecting strap or clip fitted into an adjacent part. Friction between surfaces is notacceptable for preventing movement of the terminals.9.2 General application9.2.1 A field wiring terminal shall comply with the requirements in any of the fol

    39、lowing:a) The Standard for Wire Connectors, UL 486A-486B;b) The Standard for Equipment Wiring Terminals for Use With Aluminum and/or CopperConductors, UL 486E;c) The field wiring requirements (Code 2) in the Standard for Terminals Blocks, UL 1059; ord) The field wiring requirements in the Standard f

    40、or Electrical Quick-Connect Terminals, UL310.The current-carrying parts shall be silver, copper, a copper alloy, or a similar nonferrous conductivematerial. Securing-screws and similar parts may be plated steel.MARCH 31, 2005SUBJECT 20588UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTIO

    41、N ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULException: Quick-connect terminals, complying with UL 310 that are intended for field termination ofelectrical conductors to equipment, shall be provided with instructions that such equipment is to beprovided with strain relief and information on where to o

    42、btain the strain relief. The instructions shall alsoreference the specific mating part (tab or connector) to be used.9.3 Qualified application9.3.1 Any of the following terminal configurations may be used for connection of field wiring provided allof the conditions specified in 9.3.2 are complied wi

    43、th. See 9.2.1 and Special Terminal Assemblies Tests,Section 32.a) Telephone Type Terminals Nonferrous terminal plates employing a narrow V-shaped slotfor securing of a conductor in a special post construction. Requires special tool for wireconnection.b) Solderless Wrapped Terminals Solderless wrappe

    44、d nonferrous terminals which require aspecial tool and terminal post design.c) Quick-Connect Terminals Nonferrous quick connect (push type) terminals consisting ofmale posts permanently secured to the device and provided with compatible female connectorsfor connection to field wiring. Requires speci

    45、al tool for crimping of field wires. Mating terminalswith instructions for their installation shall be shipped with the product.d) Push-In Terminals Nonferrous (screwless) push-in terminals of the type used on someswitches and receptacles. Solid conductors are pushed into slots containing spring typ

    46、econtacts. The leads can be removed by means of a tool inserted to relieve the spring tensionon the conductor. Aluminum conductors shall not be used with push-in terminals. The markingadjacent to the terminal shall indicate that copper conductors only are to be used.e) Solder Terminals Conventional

    47、nonferrous solder terminals.f) Other Terminals Other terminal connections may be used when found to be equivalent to(a) (e) above and limited to the same restrictions.Exception: Terminals complying with the requirements in any of the Standards specified in 9.2.1 neednot be subjected to the Special T

    48、erminal Assemblies Tests, Section 32.9.3.2 Any of the terminal configurations described in 9.3.1 may be used for connection of field wiring ifthey comply with all of the following conditions:a) If a special tool is required for connection, its use shall be indicated on the installation wiringdiagram
