、R REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULRevise clause 9.7.2DV.1 as follows:9.7.2DV.1 The test shall be conducted on a new set of samples. Samples shall beassembled and mounted to the test fixture as described in 9.7.1. Moisture stabilizationaccording to 5.2 prior to heat aging is not

When it is determinedimpractical to age the samples according to 9.7.2DV.2 when mounted to the test fixture, the samples shall be conditioned separately and then mounted to the test fixture prior tothe tensile pull in clause 9.7.2DV.3. When the samples are aged separately,

、if it isdetermined that the test results have been influenced by handling of the samples duringassembly to the test fixture following aging, a separate set of samples shall be aged afterconsideration of a method that mitigates a reoccurrence. The cable tie of a sample that has an integrally molded fixing device shallbe assembled to an appropriate mandrel according to clause 9.6.2 prior to cycling.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:It has come to ULs attention that the practical application of tests for cable ties that have integrally moldedfixi

、ng devices require clarification. Clause 5.8 states: “A fixing device that is integral to a cable tie shallcomply with the requirements for both the fixing device and the cable tie.” In normal use, the integrallymolded product acts as a system. It is therefore important to recognize that the actual

、strength of the cableties locking mechanism may be less than the loop tensile strength of the cable tie determined by tests inclauses 9.5 or 9.6 due to the reaction to forces applied during testing of the fixing device according toClause 9.7. Conversely, it is also possible that the actual mechanica

、l strength of the fixing device, whentested in accordance with clause 9.7, may also be less due to the systems reaction to the test force. The requirements above are deemed necessary to ensure consistency and repeatability of the tests andto provide the user with important information for safe use of
