、following sentence to the third paragraph of 11.2DV.1Moisture stabilization according to 5.2 prior to salt spray exposure is not applicable for this test.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:Separately supplied fixing devices for use with cable ties are often used in listed manufactured equipmentand the applicati

、on environment for the fixing devices can vary widely and critical performance criteria isoften limited. Historically (under UL 1565), these fixing devices were evaluated as components and theevaluation criteria were material characteristics such as flammability and maximum temperature, andmechanica

、l strength of the fixing device in the as-received, 1000 hour oven aged, and thermal cyclingconditions, as well as UV exposure where appropriate. UL 62275 has adopted IEC 62275 requirementsthat limit the classification of all separately supplied fixing devices for cable ties to Type 2, 2S, 21 and 21

、S.The following Certification Requirement Decision establishes Type 11 classification for separatelysupplied fixing devices for use with cable ties. In addition, it clarifies the conditioning and compliancerequirements for integral fixing devices, ensuring that the same conditioning cycles are used

、for both thecable tie and fixing device portion of an integral construction. The nature of certain tests or conditionings in the standard renders the requirement to stabilize moistureper 5.2 and 5.2DV superfluous. For instance, there is no benefit to stabilizing moisture content in a deviceimmediatel

、y prior to an oven conditioning which will dry the device out. In addition, materials known tohave a low hygroscopicity need not be subjected to moisture stabilization since they do not take upsignificant amounts of water from the environment.
