    11、 to the test specified in 9.15, each sample set of wire connectors intended tobe installed in air-handling spaces shall comply with the following parameters:a) The peak rate of heat release (HRRc) measured during each test shall be 100 kW or less.b) The peak normalized optical density measured durin

    12、g each test shall be 0.50 or less.c) The average normalized optical density (10 min test duration) shall be 0.15 or less.8.15 (NEW) System Flammability - Discrete Components Located In Air-Handling Spaces8.15.1 The sample set for this test shall be the maximum number of wire connectors that will be

    13、withinany 6-m (20-ft) square suspended ceiling grid area, as specified in the markings. Wire connectors shallbe tested in sample sets of twenty four (24), unless the markings for the connector identify a largernumber. See 10.25.9.15 (NEW)9.15.1 Wire connectors intended for use in air-handling spaces

See 10.3.RATIONALE FOR DECISION:This CRD documents new requirements for splicing wire connectors suitable for use in Air-HandlingSpaces”, “Plenum

    33、Rated” or equivalent.NEC Section 300.22(C)(1) provides requirements for wiring methods in spaces used for environmental air,such as above a suspended ceiling. Splicing wire connectors may be used in conjunction with some ofthe open-type wiring methods permitted by this Section. The UL Standard for F

    34、ire Test for Heat andVisible Smoke Release for Discrete Products and Their Accessories Installed in Air-Handling Spaces, UL2043 is one method used to determine acceptability of use in these locations. This CRD providesspecifications for how to evaluate splicing wire connectors for compliance with UL

    35、 2043.In determining sample selection criteria for UL 486C, consideration was given to the test method outlinedin the Standard for Suspended Ceiling Grid Low Voltage Systems, UL 2577. This Standard evaluatesequipment that can be installed per NEC Section 300.22(C), as noted in the guide information
