Unless indicated otherwise, this document presents numbers in decimal form. Binary numbers are distinguished i

、n the text by the use of single quotation marks. In some tables, binary values may appear without single quotation marks if table notation clearly specifies that values are binary. The character x is used to represent a binary bit of unspecified value. For example xxxO0010 represents any 8-bit binar

、y value such that the least significant five bits equal 00010. Hexadecimal numbers (base 16) are distinguished in the text by use of the form Oxh. h where h.h represents a string of hexadecimal digits. For example, Ox2fal represents a number whose binary value is O0 101 1 1 1 101oooO1 and whose deci

、mal value is 12193. Note that the exact number of bits in the binary representation of a hexadecimal number strictly depends on the implementation requirements for the variable being represented. Packet data transmission is supported on TIA/EIA/IS-95-A and TSB7

、4 TrafficChannels using primary or secondq trac. For packet data transmission using TIA/EIA/IS-95-A or TSB74 Traffic Channels, the Radio Link Protocol speciiled in Chapter 3 of “IA/EIA/IS-99 and 2.2.2 is used. This standard specifies a packet data bearer service for communication between terminal eq

、uipment and a packet interworking function (W) via a base station/mobile switching center (BS/MSC). It provides procedures that can apply to multiple packet data services e.g CDPD and Mobile-IP. Service Option 7 is used to request packet data service through an IWF supporting an Internet standard Po

、int-to-Point Protocol (PPP) interface to network layer protocols (see 4.1 and 4.2). Service Option 8 is used to request packet data service through an IWF supporting CDPD data services over a PPP interface (see 4.3). Additional packet data service options may be defined in future revisions to select

、 other types of IWF resources or services. Packet data service options provide a means of establishing and maintaining Traffic Channels for packet data service. When the service negotiation procedures of TSB74 are used, packet data service can be carried as primary or as secondq trac. When the servi

、ce option negotiation procedures of TIA/EIA/IS-95-A or TSB74 are used, packet data service can be carried as primary trac only. 1.2 Terms AT Command Set.
