TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS3.1 Composition3.1.1 LaminationsShall conform to AMS5040, AMS5042, AMS5044 or AMS5047.3.1.2 AdhesiveShall be of a composition that will meet the fabrication and quality requirements of this spec
12、ification.3.2 FabricationThe laminated shim stock shall consist completely of laminations each 0.002 inch 0.0002 (0.05 mm 0.005) thick or 0.003 inch 0.0003 (0.08 mm 0.008) thick, or partly of such laminations combined with a single thicker lamination, as ordered, bonded together by an adhesive such
13、that individual laminations may be peeled for adjustment of shim thickness. 19、area in a manner that will permit peeling of the laminations without the aid of mechanical devices, for adjustment of shim thickness, without separation of the remaining laminations and solid part. Laminations shall be bonded together in such a manner that any shape can be cut from the material usin
20、g suitable tools, without separation. Laminations shall remain intact without separation during normal handling. Requirements shall be applicable to laminations not less than eight hours after completion of bonding.3.3.2 Surface RoughnessFlat surfaces of laminations, and solid stock when applicable,
21、 shall have a maximum roughness of 63 RA (microinches) on original surfaces and on metallic surfaces after peeling.3.3.3 Water ResistanceSheet shall withstand total immersion in water at 120 F 3 (49 C 2) for at least three hours without separation of laminations or any evidence of corrosion.3.3.4 Pe
22、el StrengthEach individual lamination shall have a peel strength no less than 1 pound per inch of width (180 gm/cm of width) and no more than 5 pounds per inch of width (900 gm/cm of width), except at the solid/laminate bond line that may be higher.3.3.5 The existence of the applicable type, class a
23、nd nominal thickness shown in Table 1 is not intended to imply that all products described are commercially available. Only the products described in Table 2 have specific identification part numbers assigned to them.3.4 QualitySheet, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and conditi

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Responsibility for InspectionThe vendor of sheet shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and
30、to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the sheet conforms to specified requirements.4.2 Classification of TestsAll technical requirements are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable.SAE AMS6387B Page 6 of 74.3 Sampling and TestingA lot s
31、hall consist of all of the shim stock of the same composition, type, class, nominal size and lateral dimensions, manufactured under essentially the same conditions, and submitted for acceptance at the same time. Sampling shall be in accordance with ANSI/ASQC Z1.4. Lot acceptance criteria shall be ba
32、sed on a single sampling plan with a zero acceptance number.4.4 ReportsThe vendor of sheet shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests for peel strength of each lot and stating that the sheet conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purch
33、ase order number, lot number, AMS6387A, type, class, dash number or length and width as applicable, and quantity.4.5 Resampling and RetestingShall be in accordance with ANSI/ASQC Z1.4.5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY5.1 IdentificationEach sheet shall be legibly marked on one face with nominal shim stock
34、thickness, thickness of each lamination, percentage of total thickness that is laminated, and AMS6387B.5.2 PackagingSheet shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transport
35、ation of the sheet to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.6. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTA vendor shall include this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders.7. REJECTIONSSheet not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorize
