SCOPE 1.1 Scope: This specification establishes requirements for two types and classes of a two component, low temperature curing, polysulfide, sealing compound for use as a quick-repair material for aiccraft structure. 1.2 Classificat

    3、ion. The sealing compound shall be of the following 1-2.1 Types. types and classes, as specified (see 6.2). Type I - Dichromate cure system - . Type II - Manganese, cure system 1.2.2 Classes. . The quick repair sealing compound furnished under this specification shall be a product which is qualified for listing on the applicable qualified products list at the time set or opening o bids (see 4.3 and 6.3). 3.2 Materials. The sealing c

    18、ompound shall consist of a base compound which will cure to an elastomeric state upon addition of a sepatate curing agent. 3.2.1 Base compound. The base compound shall be primarily a syn- I thetic rubber of the polysulfide type furnished in the as manufactured color. I I I 3.2.2 Curing agent. The cu

    19、ring agent shall be of sufficiently I package (see 5.1.1.2) and shall be identified on the Qualified Products diffexent color from the base compound to easily identify an incompletely mixed system. 3.2.3 Primer. The use of a primer, as recommended by the manu- facturer, is permissible. The primer sh

The minimum percent nonvolatile content of the freshly mixed compound, when tested in accordance with

    26、 of the cured poly- sulfide shall be no greater than 1.65 when determined in accordance with 4.8.6. 3.4.3.4 Peel strength. The compound shall withstand the bend test as specified in 4.8.10 without cracking, checking, or separation from the panel. 3.4.4 Accelerated crazing (class B) When tested as specified in 4.8.11, the sealing compound shall not craze, crack, or ot

    30、herwise chemically degrade the stressed plastic panels, 3.4.5 Hydrolytic stability. When t.ested for hardness after ex- posure as specified in 4.8.12, the specimens shall retain 80 percent of - . their original hardness. 3.4.6 Repairability The sealing compound shall repair minor breaks in itself an

The sealing compounds furnished under this specifi- cation are to be used with the manufacturers recommended primer to obtain optimum results. 6.2 Ordering data. Acquisition documents should specify the following: a. Title, number and date

    34、 .of this specification. b. Type and class of sealant required (see 1.2). c. Quantity desired. d. e. Applicable levels of packing required (see 5.2). Any special marking required (see 5.3 and 5.3.1). 6.3 Qualification. With respect to products requiring qual- ification, awards will be made only for

    35、products which are at the time set for opening of bids, qualified for inclusion in the applicable Qualified Products List whether or not such products have actually been so listed by that date. The attention of the contractors is called to these re- quirements, and manufacturers are urged to arrange

    36、 to have the products that they propose to offer to the Federal Government tested for qualification in order that they may be eligible to be awarded contracts or orders for the products covered by this specification.
