Silver, corrosion-resistant steel, copper, brass, bronze, copper-nickel, and nickel-copper alloys are corrosion-resistant Katerials within the intent of 3.2.3.1. Corrosion-resistant materials are
17、required for bolts, nuts, studs, pins, cap screws, and similar fasteners, and for parts that move with respect to each other (have common bearing surfaces) in normal usage of the equipment. 3.2.3.1.2 Corrosion-resistant treatment. Electrodeposited zinc in accordance with type II, class 2 of 04-2-325
18、 shall be used to protect those materials which are not corrosion- resistant. 3.2.3.2 Paintin of searchlight equipment. Prior to painting, all external metal sur- faces shall be given :wo coats of zinc-chromate primer conforming to TT-P-645. The first priming coat shall be applied after machine work
19、 has been completed and after surfaces to be covered have been thoroughly cleane& and dried and given a corrosion-resistant treatment, if applicable. 24、 as specified. Design and construction shall provide for continued satisfactory operation and will not re- quire special tools or excessively precise workmanship to perform routine maintenance. Material and construction shall be the lightest and most compact consistent with the strength required for
