When specified (see 6.2), the con- tractor shall furnish sample units for first article inspection and approval (see 4.3.1 and 6.2). 3.2 Selection of Government documents. Specifications and standards for neces
11、sary commodities and services not specified herein shall be selected in accordance with MIL-STD-143. 3.3 Materials. 3.3.1 Metallic. All metallic parts shall be fabricated from corrosion-resistant metal or shall be suitably treated to resist corrosion. 3.3.2 Nonmetallic. All nonmetallic parts used in
12、 constructing the pumps shall have been manufactured not more than 12 months prior to the date of delivery of the pumps. 3.3.3 Dissimilar metals. Unless suitably protected against electrolytic corrosion, dissimilar metals as specified in MIL-STD-889 shall not be used in intimate contact with each ot
13、her. 3.3.4 Protective treatment. Materials used in the construction of the pump and hose shall be protected against deterioration in a manner that will in no way prevent compliance with the performance requirements of this specification. The use of any protective coating that will crack, chip, or sc
14、ale with age or extremes of climatic and environmental conditions shall be avoided. 3 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL- P-8 25 8 D (AS) 3.4.6 Plunger assembly. The plunger assembly shall consist of a handle, stem, and piston. 3.4.6.1 Handle. The handle shall be approximately 3 inches lon
15、g and 1/2-inch wide and shall be securely fastened to the stem. Screws or rivets, if used for this purpose, shall be countersunk. The edges of the handle shall be rounded and smooth. clearance shall be maintained between the handle and the upper end plate. Not less than a 1-inch I 3.4.6.2 Stern. The
16、 stem shall be constructed of tubing having an outside diameter of not less than 318-inch and sufficient wall thickness to prevent bending if the pump is operated roughly. The stem 3.4 Design and construction. The pump and hose shall Conform to figure 1. The pump shall be so constructed that no part
17、s Will work loose in service. It shall be built to withstand the strains, jars, vibrations, and other conditions incident to shipping, storage, installation and service. 3.4.1 Maintenance. The pump shall be so designed and constructed that the barrel, plunger or check valve may be replaced without s
18、pecial tools or damage to the pump and so that adjustment and repairs can be made readily by the personnel of operating units and , overhaul bases. I 3.4.2 Barrel. The barrel shall be black, paper-based phenolic lamnated tubing, type PBG, conforming to MIL-P-79. 3.4.3 End plates. The pump shall be p
19、rovided with a lower plate incorporating an air outlet and a check valve. 24、f coil spring shall be installed 3.4.6.3 Piston. The piston shall be installed on the stem opposite the handle and shall consist of a cup and at least two washers, one on each side of the cup. The cup shall be of synthetic rubber or of any other suitable material. The cup material shall be self-lubr
25、icating to prevent drying. The washers shall be of such diameter and configuration that the cup will permit the passage of air on the return stroke and a minimum of leakage on the down stroke. *. 3.4.7 Hose. The hose shall be of the woven style with an inner tube of nonblooming compound of seamless
26、construction and an abrasion-resistant outer cover. The hose shall have a 1/2-inch minimum inside diameter and a 1-inch maximum outside diameter. The construction of the hose shall be such that the hose shall not burst or leak during usage. 3.4.7.1 Hose connector. Each hose shall be provided with an
27、 internally threaded connector on one end and an externally threaded connector on the other end as shown in figure 1. The threads on the respective hose connectors shall be as specified in figure 1. The connectors shall be serrated and secured to the hose by means of a ferrule. The connector on the
28、externally threaded end shall be constructed SO as to allow full rotation of the threaded portion (in either direction) for connection to the life raft topping-off valves. 3.5 Threads. Threads shall be in accordance with Handbook II-28. 3.6 Perf ormance. 3.6.1 Operation. The pump shall pass the oper
29、ation test specified in 4.7.1. 3.6.2 Air discharge. The pump shall pass the air discharge tests specified in 4.7.2.1 and 4.7.2.2. 3.6.3 Operating force. The pump shai.1 pass the impact test specified in 4.7.5. 3.6.6 Hose flexibility. The hose shall not crack when tested as specified in 4.7.6. 3.6.7 Hose kinking. The hose shall not
31、kink or show visible deterioration when tested as specified in 4.7.7. 3.6.8 Hose leakage. The hose shall not leak when subjected to an air proof pressure of 25 psi as specified in 4.7.8. 3.6.9 Salt spray. The hose shall pass the salt spray test specified in 4.7.9. 3.7 Weight. The weight of the pump
32、without the hose shall not exceed 1.40 pounds. 3.8 Interchangeability. All parts having the same manufacturers part number shall be functionally and dimensionally interchangeable. 3.9 Identification of product. 3.9.1 Pump. The pump shall be marked for identification in accordance with MIL-STD-130, a

Unless otherwise specified in the contjract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspec
36、tion requirements as Specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his own facilities or any commercial laboratory acceptable to the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are d
37、eemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The examination and testing of the pumps shall be classified as: a. First article inspections (4.3) b. Quality conformance inspections (4.4) 4.3 First article. 4.3.1 First article s

Unless otherwise specified, as soon as practicable after award of the contract or order, the manufacturer shall submit three pumps. construction, workmanship, components, and materials to be used during production. pumps from contract to contract, submission of further first article inspecti

First article inspection shall consist of performing all e
41、xaminations and tests specified herein. 4.3.3 First article approval. Upon completion of the first article inspection program, recommendations and comments pertinent for use in monitoring production, will be forwarded by the Government Activity responsible for conducting the inspection program (see
42、6.2d) to the Contracting Officer. One approved sample will be returned to the manufacturer for use in monitoring production. The remaining samples will be consumed or destroyed in the first article inspection program and shall not be considered as part of the quantity to be delivered under the contr
43、act. 4.4 Quality conformance inspections. The sample size and acceptance criteria shall be as specified in table I, as applicable. Sampling and acceptance shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 4.5 Test conditions. Unless otherwise specified, all tests required by this specification shall be made at an atmospheric pressure of 28 to 32 inches of mercury and a temperature of 77 + laF, and a relative humidity of 80 percent or less.
