REQUIREMENTS 3,l Definitions 3.1. 1 Rated condition. - Rated condition is characteristics assigned th a machine such as, speed, voltage, frequency and current for a spec- I
16、ied output rating. t 3.1.2 Nominal rating. - Nominal rathg1 is the normal constant operating condition or character- istic assigned to a machine when a range,otoper- ating conditions or characteristics are specified. 3.1.3 Continuous duty, - Continuous duty is a requirement of service that the equip
17、ment shall op- erate satisfactory at any constant load in the range of no-load to full load for an indefinitely long time, 3,l. 4 Total harmonic content. - The total har- monic content is the total mot mean square :r. m. s. voltage remaining when the fundamental component is removed. 3.1.5 Voltage m
18、odulation. - Voltage modulation is the cycic variation or random dynamic varia- tions, or both, about an average of the ac peak voltage during steady state electric-system opera- tions such as caused by voltage regulation and speed variations. The modulation envelope is formed by a continuous curve-
19、connecting each sine wave peak to the successive sine wave peak. 3.1.8 Short-circuit ratio. - The short-circuit ratio is the ratio of the field current at rated open circuit armature voltage and frequency to the field current required to produce rated armature current for a sustained symmetrical sho

The outpit of the motor genera- tor power supply shall also be designed as an un- grounded system; however, the equipment shall be designed to perform in accordance with the require- ments of this specification in the event of single failu

28、ltage regulation. - Voltage regulation shall be achieved by a completely static regulator and excitation system, The voltage regulator shall be capable of maintaining the voltage or mean volt- ages for 3 phase generators within plus or minus O, 5 percent of rated voltage under the following conditio

34、(lag- ging and unity. 3.2.24 Line unbalance (three uhase generators only). - The variation between line voltages shall not be greater than 5 percent of rated voltage when a single phase load of 15 percent rated current at any power factor between O, 8 and unity is applied to any line of the generato
35、r which is already loaded with a balanced 3 phase load of 75 percent of rated current. 3.2.25 Voltage balance (three phase generators only). - Thevariation between line voltages at the - output terminals of the power supply (load side of circuit breaker) shall not be greater than O. 5 percent at no
36、load or for any Uced three phase current up io rated current at any power factor between O. 8 and unity. 3.2.26 Generator short circuit ratio. - The gen- erator skirt circuit ratio shall be no less than O, 8, Licensed by Information Handling Services3.2.27 System short circuit performance. - The sta

Upon removal of the short circuit, rated speed and voltage shall be automati- cally restored. 3,2.28 Parallel operation. - Parallel operation shall be provided
40、 as follows: - (a) The equipment shall be designed so that any number of motor generators and control equipment of identical design will operate in paraiiei in accorance with the requirements specified herein. Parallel operation shall be accomplished by cross-current compensation of the voltage regu
41、lators and speed governors rather than by droop compensation. I 3.2.28.1 mallel operation performance. - The maximum difference in kilovar (bar) andkw supplied by generators operating in para1181 shall not exceed the following limits under any load condition between 20 and 100 percent of rated load.
42、 These require- ments shall also apply for input voltage variations specified in table I, variations in equipment tem- perature from ambient to full load rise, and varia- tion in power factor between O. 8 lagging and unity. The design shall be such that the equipment will perform as specified herein
43、 when each power supply is connected to a different source and without any electrical Interconnection between these sources. The requirements shall apply only when both the speed and voltage regulators are in automatic operation. (a) The maximuin difference in kw supplied by the generators in parall
44、el shall not exceed 8 percent of the kw rating of one of the generators, for 115 and 230 nomi- nal input voltage and 10 percent for 250 nominal input voltage. (b) The maximum difference kvar eupplied the generators in parallel shall no5 exceed 6 percent of bar rating of one of the gen- erators. 3.2.
45、29 Insulation resistance. - The insuiation resistance, when corrected in accordance with 4.6.6 sha not be less than 50 megohms for motor gener- ators and 10 megohms for associated controla, 3.2. SO Circuit segregation. - The d, ci input and a. c. output shall be completely isoiated at all times. 3.2
46、.31 Melectric strength. - The motor genera- tor and associated control equipment shall be capable of withstanding a dielectric stGngth test (see 4.6.7) of twice the normal-voltage of the drcuit plus 1, OM) volts for one minute. 3.3 Detailed requirements- 3.3.1 General. - Equipment covered by this sp
47、ecification shall conform to Specifiyation MIL-E- 917 unless otherwise specified herein. The equip- ment shall torm a complete power supply consisting of a motor generator and its intended control equip- ment. 3.3.2 Reliability. - To meet the needs of the Naval service, it is imperative that reliabl
48、lity of operation be considered of prime importance in the design and manufacture of the equipment. The con- tractor shall employ all reasonable methods posstble in the process of manufacture to assure quality and maximum reliability consistent with the state of the art. in the functional applicatio
49、n of parts to equip- ment circuits, adequate factors of safety shall be provided by suitable deviations from their specifica- tion values where required, in order to insure high equipment reliability under all servtce conditions, The design shall include all possible features which will result in reliable and stable operation with minimum need for adjuetment and alignment, mini- mum frequency of failure and minimum requirements for maintenance. Maintenance shall be simplified to reduce the need lor highly skilled maintenance personnel, The final product
