This specification covers submersible connectors (receptacles and plugs), stuffing tubes, adapter, and end seals, hereinafter referred to as hull fittings, for u

    3、se in conjunction with flexible, solid-dielectric, radio- frequency cable and suitable for use in submarine hulls. 1.2 Military part number. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein (except for associated detail specifications, specification sheets or MS standards), the text of this specification shall take precedence. Nothing

    22、 in this specification, however, shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Specification sheets. The individual item requirements shall be as specified herein and in accordance with the applicable specification sheets. In the e

    23、vent of any conflict between the requirements of this specification and the specification sheet, the latter shall govern. 3.2 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.5 and 6.3). 3.3 Materials. Materials shall con

    24、form to applicable specifications and shall be as specified herein or on the applicable specification sheet. Materials which are not specifically specified herein or on the applicable specification sheet shall be of the best quality, of the lightest practicable weight, and suit- able for the purpose

    25、 intended. Sufficient material identifications and controls shall be exercised by the contractor to assure that the final product conforms to this specification. O 3.3.1 Material control objective quality evidence. Objective quality evidence of chemical analysis and physical properties of material p

    26、er heat from the mill, traceable from the serial number on the final product, shall be prepared and maintained and supplied when specified (see 6.2.2) in support of specification compliant material. Material identity, traceable to this objective evidence, shall be maintained throughout the manufactu

    27、ring process. 3.3.1.1 Additional material certification shall be required from the manufacturer of the hull fitting bodies, body nuts, body washers, and blanking plugs for stuffing tubes to assure that the required age hardening or annealing, or both, required in the manufacturing process has been d

    28、one correctly (see 4.3). For each annealing, or age hardening step, or both, the contractor, at his option, shall supply one of the following additional material certification documentations, traceable by the serial number to every hull fitting body, body nut, body washer, and blanking plug: 4 Provi

    29、ded by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-(a) For each heat of material used in the production of the hull fitting bodies, body nuts, body washers, and blanking plugs, a test bar shall be subjected to the same annealing and age hardening as the prod

    30、uction items. This test bar shall then be tested to ascertain that the physical properties meet the requirements specified in 3.3.2. (b) When nickel-copper-aluminum alloy bar stock is obtained in the mill annealed condition (annealed by the mill) and manufacturing processes are restricted to machini

    31、ng operations, age hardening and welding, the mill test certification on an age hardened test bar, records of age-hardening, and certified calibration records of the furnace temperature measuring devices shall be maintained. This heat treatment record shall consist of a time versus temper- ature plo

    32、t of all age hardening heat treatments that the product undergoes, and shall identify, by serial numbers, the products to which it applies. The parts shall be age hardened in accordance with QQ-N-286. 3.3.1.2 As an example of the material control objective quality evidence required for a hull fittin

    33、g (body, body nut, body washer, and blanking plug), the following is provided: (a) When the contractor chooses option (a) of 3.3.1.1, the following is required with the final product: (1) Chemical analysis of the nickel-copper-aluminum alloy bar stock used to manufacture each body, body nut, body wa

    34、sher, and blanking plug to assure compliance with the nickel- copper-aluminum requirements specified in 3.3.2. The chemical analysis furnished by the mill will satisfy this requirement when supplemented by the required traceability marking identifying the finished products to the bar stock on which

    35、the chemical analysis was conducted. (2) Physical analysis of the nickel-copper-aluminum alloy bar stock used to manufacture each body, body nut, body washer, and blanking plug to assure compliance with the physical properties of the nickel-copper-aluminum specified in 3.3.2. This will require a tes

    36、t bar from each different heat of material used in the manufacture of the final pro- duct. The test bar shall undergo the same heat treatments the bodies, body nuts, body washers, and blanking plugs undergo in manufacture. The bar shall then be tested, and test reports shall be provided with .the fi

    37、nished products to assure compliance of the pieces to the physical proper- ties specified in 3.3.2. Traceability shall be required for the test bars and all final products to the original heat material. (b) When the contractor chooses option (b) of 3.3.1.1, the following shall be required with the f

    39、inum alloy specified in 3.3.2. The chemical analysis furnished by the mill will satisfy this require- ment when supplemented by the required traceability markings identifying the finished product to the bar stock on which the chemical analysis was conducted. (2) Physical analysis of the nickel-coppe

    40、r-aluminum alloy bar stock used to manufacture the body, body nut, body washer, and blanking plug to assure compliance with the physical properties of the nickel-copper-aluminum alloy specified in 3.3.2. The physical analysis furnished by the mill will satisfy this requirement when supplemented by t

    41、he required traceability markings identifying the finished product to the bar stock on which the physical analysis was conducted. (The physical properties listed in 3.3.2 are for the age hardened condition and therefore the mill shall age harden the sample prior to test.) (3) A chart, plotting the a

    42、ctual time versus temperature of all age hardening to which the bodies, body nuts, body washers, and blanking plugs were subjected during the manufacturing cycle. Each chart shall identify the pieces subjected to the age hardening it represents. The temperature ranges and time intervals will be used

    43、 to determine if proper age hardening procedures were employed, and as a basis for rejection of material if the proper procedures were not employed. measuring devices shall be submitted with the above information. (4) Certified calibration records of the furnace temperature 3.3.2 Hull fitting bod,ie

    44、s, body nuts, body washers, and blanking plugs. 3.3.2.1 Nickel-copper-aluminum alloy. After machining and welding, the bodies, body nuts, body washers, and blanking plugs manufactured from mill annealed nickel-cpper2aluminum- alloy in accordance with class A of QQ-N-286, shall be age hardened to obt

    45、ain a 130,000 pounds force per square inch (lbf /in2) minimum tensile strength, 85,000 lbf/in2 mnimum yield strength at 0.2 percent offset, and 20 percent minimum elongation. ” - 3.3.2.2 Nickel-copper alloy. Bodies, body nuts, and body washers manu- factured from nickel-copper alloy shall be class A

    46、, form 1, hot finished in accordance with QQ-N-281 with a minimum yield stength of 40,000 lbf/inz at 0.2 percent offset, or nickel-copper alloy in accordance with class A, form 1, cold drawn, of QQ-N-281, with a minimum yield strength of 50,000 lbf/in2 at 0.2 per- cent offset. The chemical and physi

    47、cal analysis furnished by the mill will satisfy certification requirements when supplemented by the required traceability markings identifying the finished receptacle bodies, body nuts, body washers, and blanking plugs to the bar stock on which the chemical and physical analysis was conducted, Provi

Copper-beryllium contacts shall be in actor- dance with alloy 172 or 173, temper A or H of QQ-(2-530. Copper-beryllium springs shall be in accordance with alloy 172, temper A of

    49、 QQ-C-533. After machining and forming, contacts and springs shall be given a precipitation hardening treatment, temper AT or HT as specified (see 3.1). 3.3.3.1 Rockwell hardness - contacts. Contacts shall meet the Rockwell hardness requirements of QQ-C-530 following precipitation hardening. 3.3.3.2 Tensile strength - springs.
