SCOPE 1 - SCOPE - This specification covers the design, per- formance, and test requirements for a forward look

31、is radar set did not use nonrepairable subassemblies, the design shall not be changed to employ non- repairable assemblies without the approval of the procuring activity. 3.2.1 Nonstandard Parts and Materials Approval - Approval for the use of nonstandard parts and materials (including electron tube
32、s, transistors , and diodes) other than microelectronic devices shall be obtained as outlined in Specification MIL-E-5400 for Class 2, Category III equipment. . 3.2.2 Microelectronic Modular Assemblies - Not applicable. 3.2.3 Modules - The use of modular space assignment, and the construction of plu
33、g-wssemblies is encouraged in the design of equipment specified herein. Small groups of subassemblies may constitute a larger subassembly where necessity dictates the use of comnon pressurization, cooling or shielding. The use of potted or sealed repairable subassemblies which causes difficulty in p
34、art replacement shall require prior approval. Subassemblies shall be designed in accordance with MIL-E-19600 excluding the dimensi on requirements. The subassembly dimensions and power supply require- ments shall be as best suited for the application. keyed to prevent inadvertent misinstall ation. c

Subassemblies shall be 3.3 Design and Construction - The equipment shall 3.3.1 Total Weight - The total weight
36、 of the radar set, excluding cables, shall be a minimum consistent with good design and shall not exceed 239.5 pounds (108.6 kg). 3.3.2 Reliability - The contractor shall conduct a reliability program in accordance with MIL-STD-785. On a reorder from a contractor who .has previously produced the equ
37、ipment, the program previously used may be continued unless otherwise indicated in the contract or order. Operational Stability - The radar set shall operate with satisfactory performance, continuously, or intermittently for a period of at least 100 hours when operated in a temperature.environment n
38、ot exceeding that specified in paragraph 3.3.10.2 without the necessity for readjustment of any controls which are inaccessible to the operator during normal use. Operating Life - The radar set shall have a minimum total operating life of 4000 hours with reasonable servicing and replacement of parts

40、 MIL-STD-210 3.3.2.4 Reliability in Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) - The eauiment shall demonstrate a specified MTBF of 106 hours when tested in accordance with paragraph 4.4 herein. The equipment reliability shall not be degraded below the required level as a result of normal field usage and main
41、tenance. 3.3.2.5 Time Totalizing Meter - The following units shall contain time total izing meters in accordance with Specification MIL-M-7793. 43、adar system used for testing purposes or interconnection between units of the radar or other aircraft systems shall be in accordance with MIL-C-38999 or as otherwise approved by the procuring activity. 3.3.3.2 Interconnection Cabling - The radar set shall be capable of satisfactory operation using e
44、xternal wiring in accordance with the applicable requirements of MIL-W-588. The externl wiring shall be un- shielded, except that a minimum number of the individua? wires may be shielded when demonstrated as necessary to meet interference control requirements and provided the assembly of the cable t
45、o its plugs may be easily accomplished. 46、conform to the applicable requirements of Specification MIL-C- 6781, Type 1. 49、uipment shall be submitted to NAVAIR for approval. 3.3.7.1 Maintainability Requirement - Field (intermediate) level maintenance shall not exceed 3.0 direct man-hours mean time to repair (MTTR) per malfunction. No more than 12.0 man-hours of direct time shall be required to repair any single failure. Preventive maintenance shall require no more than 6.0 man-hours direct time to accomplish and shall not be required more often than an interval of 500 flight hours. be computed on the basis of accomplishment by maintenance personnel equiv- alent to Air Force skill
