In the event of a conflct between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however supersedes applicable laws

    17、and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specifed (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to rst article inspection in accordance with 4.2. 3.2 Materials. AU materials used in the manufixture of the initiators shall conform sicty with the

    18、specifications referenced on the respective Naval Air Systems Command drawings unless specific approval in writing covering a departure therehm has been obtained from the Navy cognizant field activity for initiators prior to manufacture. When alternate materials or mehods of initiator manufacture ar

    19、e specified on the drawings, the bidders selection shall be clearly stated in the proposal. 3.3 Primary components. For the purpose of this specification the ignition element loaded assembly (Drawing 844AS285) and the NOSOL flake and propellant (WS 13986 and Drawing 844AS289) are defined as primary

    20、components (see 3.3.1 and 3.3.2). 3.3.1 Ignition element loaded assembly. The ignition element used in the JAU-2243 initiator shaii be in accordance with Drawing 844AS285 and loaded as specified therein. As a minimum the requirements of 4.7.5.3 shall be met. 333 NOSOL propellant. 33.2.1 Quantity. Al

    21、l propelant charges shail be as specified on Drawing 844AS28 1. All propellant charges shall be verified by weight 100 percent. 3.3.2.2 NOSOL flake. The NOSOL flake shall be in acwrdance with WS 13986 and Drawing 844AS28 1 and loaded as prescribed therein. NOSOL flake charges shall be determined by

    22、weight rather than by volume measrirementS. 3.3.23 NOSOL propellant. The NOSOL propellant, conforming to Drawing 844AS289 and WS 13986, shall be loaded as specified on Drawing 844AS281. The NOSOL propellant shall exhibit no evidence of decomposition. 3.4 Environmental Tests. 3.4.1 Shock The initiato

    23、rs sha withstaud shock conditions as specified in 4.2.1.1. After being subjected to the shock test, the initiators shall meet the nondestructive test requirements and the design performance requirements when test fired. 3 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without l

    24、icense from IHS-,-,-3.4.2 Six-foot drop. To ensure safety of handiing and installation, the initiator shall not fire when dropped from a height of 6 feet as specified in 4.2.1.2. After being subjected to the six-foot drop test, the initiators shall meet the nondestructive test requirements and the d

    25、esign perfonname requirements when test fired 3.4.3 Vibration. The initiators shall wihstand vibration conditions as specified in 4.2.1.3. After being subjected to the vibration test, the initiators shall meet the nondestructive test requirements of 3.6 and 3.7, and the design performance requiremen

    26、ts when test fire. 3.5 Visual inspection. initiators shall be fiee of the following visible defects: burrs, dents, deep scratches, cracks, illegible markings, corrosion, foreign matter, nonmdormity of the protective hish, incomplete or damaged threads, and other defects which wuid adversely affect i

    27、nstallation or baliistic performance (see 4.7.1). 3.6 Radiographic examination. Initiators shall be fiee of imperfections in components of assembly as verined by radiographic exambtion of all first article and production test samples (see 4.7.2). 3.7 Bridge circuit resistance. The bridge circuit res

    28、istance of each completely assembled initiator, when measured electrically as specified in 4.7.3, shall be 1.1 ohms f 0.15 ohms. 3.8 Breakaway torque test. The chamber and cap of the assembled initiator shall withstand a breakaway torque application of 50 f 5 ft-lb without loosening or deformation (

    29、see 4.7.4). 33 Ballistic requirements. Initiators from each rst article and production lots, selected in accordance with 4.8.1, shali meet the requirements listed below when subjected to the test prescribed in 4.8.2. Any initiator which fails to meet one or more requirements shall result in rejectio

    30、n of the lot represented. 39.1 Pressure. The upper limit of pressure shall be 1650 psi and the lower limit 1050 psi. 3.9.2 Ignition time. The time between the application of firing current to the initiator and the start of pressure rise in the chamber of the text fxture shall not exceed 0.050 second

    31、 39.3 Misfire. The initiator shaii fre when proper firing energy is applied (see 4.8.2). 3.10 Lock shut requirements. Jnitiators fiom each first article sample and production lot, selected in accordance with 4.2 and 4.8.1, shall exhibit no mechanical failure, including the breakaway torque and gas v

    32、enting, when subjected to the test prescribed in 4.8.3. 3.11 Packaging and marking. The packaging of initiators and the container markings shall be in accordancewithsection5. 3.12 Workmanship. Jnitiators shall be construd and nished in a -er to assure compliance with ali requirements of this specica

The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.2) b. Production inspection (see 4.3) 4.2 First article

Before entering into quantity production, a first article sample of 32 initiators, 5 cap and ignition element assemblies, and 3 header and glass seal assemblies shall be prepared, see table I. Additional initiators, as specified in the contracc shall be retained for investigative purpose

    36、s. A first article sample acceptable for environmental and functionai testing shall be defined as a sample which has met the requirements of 3.2 through 3.11 of this specification. The failure of any initiator to meet the acceptance requirements as stated above shall cause rejection of the first art

The shock pulse wave form shall be terminal peak sawtooth. The

    39、peak amplitude shall be 20g and the duration shall be 11 mec. Three initiators shali be dropped onto a 2-inch-thick (minimum) steel plate embeded in concrete to impact as follows: (1) one nose up, (2) one nose down, and (3) one horizontal. A new initiator shall be used for each drop. No device shall fire durin

    41、g this test. After the drop test has been complete, the initiators sha be subjected to the mndve tests and fired per table 1. 4.2.13 Vibration. Initiators shall be subjected to vibration test in accordance with MIL-STD-810Cy figure 514.2-2, curve H (see 3.4.3). 43.13.1 Procedure. a n t Q P J f 8 P i

    43、ation test fixture using 45 f 3 inch pounds. Anti-seize compound will be applied to the fixture threads prior to installation of the initiators. The hree mutually perpendicular axes will be used for vibration testing. Vibration time wiil be 1 hour per axis per temperature for a total of 9 hours. Per

    44、fom sinusoidal vibration cycling at 70F for 1 hour with the ?equency varying logarithmicaily fiom 5 to 2000 Hz and return to 5 Hz in approximately 20 minutes to the levels. Continue this untii 1 hour of cycling has been completed. After completion of the 1-hour cyciing period the vibration furture w

    45、il be rotated 90 degrees so the initiators are positioned in a different axis than in step c. The initiators in this new axis position will then be vibrated per step c for 1 hour at 70F. After completion of the second 1-hour cycling period the vibration fixture wili again be rotated 90 degrees so th

    46、at the initiators are positioned in a different axis than in step c or d. The initiators in this new axis position will then be vibrated per step c for 1 hour at 70F. After completion of three 1-hour cyciing periods (1 hour per axis) at 70F the procedure outlined in steps c through e will be repeate

    47、d with the temperature at 200F in lieu of 70F. Afier completion of three 1-hour cycling periods (1 hour per axis) at 200F the procedure outlined in steps c through e will be repeated with the temperature at - 65OF in lieu of 200OF. 43 Production inspection. Inspection lot dehition, formation, and si

    48、ze shall be in accordance with ASQC 21.4. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the minimum and maximum production lot sizes shall be 1201 initiators and 10,000 initiators, respectively. Ballistic test sample size shall be in accordance with 4.8.1. 4.4 Classification of characteristics. The ch

    49、aracteristics verified by the tests and examinations herein are classified as critical, major or minor in accordance with DOD-STD-2 10 1. Tests and examinations that ven critical charactenstics are identifed by the symbol (C) and major characteristics by the symbol 0.
