REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General. 3.1.1 The MARK 104 MOD O impulse cartridge covered by this specifi- cation shall be manufactured in accordance with the drawings listed on LD 491831. 3.2 Materials. All materials used in the manufacture of the car- tridges shall conform strictly with t

    12、he specifications referenced on the respective NAVAIR drawings unless specific approval in writing covering a demrture therefrom has been obtained from the Navy cognizant field activity for cartridges prior to manufacture, When alternate materials or methods of manufacture are specified on the drawi

    13、ngs, the bidders selections shall be clearly stated in the proposal, 3.2.1 Preproduction sample. Unless otherwise specified by the pro- curing activity, a preproduction sample of 46 MARK 104 MOD O impulse cartridges shall be manufactured using the same methods and procedures proposed for the product

    14、ion lot, The sample shall be tested as specified in 4,3,2 and is for the purpose of determining that the contractor, prior to starting production, is capable of producing items which comply with the technical requirements of the contract. 3.3 Primary components. For the purposes of this specificatio

    15、n, the primer and main propellant charge are defined as primary components. See 4.3.3, 3.4 Primer. The primers shall be furnished from lots manufactured within the preceding 12 months, ton Arms Primer Mixture 50614 manufactured in accordance with Drawing C-7645339; and shall be from lots which were

    16、accepted in accorda-cce with the applicable requirements of MIL-P-CO, Class 1. Frimers shall be free of the fol

    17、lowing defects when examined by x-ray in accordance with 4.7,s: charge: charge broken, cracked or porous; cracked or off-center anvil or other misplaced or deformed inert parts; anvil abnormally close to primer cup dome; and all other observable defects in assembly, missing or abnormally thin 3.5 Pr

    18、opellant and ignition charges, 3.5.2 Quantitx, All propellant charges and ignition charges shall be as specified on Drawing 1863079. weight rather than by volume measurements. Charges shall be determined by 3.5.2 Black powder. The moisture content of the black powder shall be determined as specified

    19、 in MIL-P-223, and at the time of loading shall be within the limits specified therein for the applicable class of black powder being used, See 4.7.3. 3,53 Smokeless powder, handling and loading, Do not subject the smokeless powder to unnecessary handling or exposure to the atmosphere, The handling

    20、and loading of smoke_l.ess powder exposed to the atmosphere shall be performed only under conditions that do not permit the relative humidity to exceed 75 percent;, 3.5*4 Smokeless powder, condition, The smokeless powder utilized shall exhibit no evidence of decomposition, See 4.7.4, 3.6 Cartridge i

    21、nspection. 3.6,i Visual. inspection, Cartridges shall be free of the following dents, deep scratches, cracks, burrs, splft or cracked visible defects8 lip in the crimped areaI damaged “O“ ring9 incomplete or improper sealant application, or any other Imperfections which could prevent entry into the

    22、firing chamber or adversely affect performance or resistance to moisture, See 4,7.5. air or gas per second when tested in accordance with 4.7.6, by x-ray in accordance with 4.7.7. 3*6,2 Leakage, Cartridge leakage rate shall not exceed cc of 3.6.3 X-ray, Cartridges shall be free of imperfections when

The lower (L) limit of maxi.mum chamber pressure shall be 400 pounds p

See 4,7.8,2,5, . 3.8 Change in propellant lot. Whenever a change occurs in the pro- pellant lot for the main charge, test

    26、firings shall be conducted in accordance with 4.10, 3.9 Packaging, packing and marking. The packaging and mcking of cartridges and the container markings shall be in accordance with Section 3.10 Workmanship. Cartridges shall be constructed and finished in a manner to assure compliance with all requi

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection, Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase orderp the supplier is responsible for the per- formance of all inspe

    28、ction requirements as specified herein, otherwise specified in the contract or order, the supplier my use his ntn or any other facilitles suitable for the performance of the inspec- tion requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government The Government reserves the right to perform

    29、any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Except as 4,2 Sampling, Unless otherwise spec,ified, and when applicable the sampling plans and procedures used in the determination o

    30、f the acceptability of products submitted by a supplier shall be in accordance with the provisions of MILSTD-PO5 or MIL-STD-414, whichever applies. 4*3 Lots. 4.3-1 Inspection lots. Inspection lot definition, formation and size shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105 or MIL-STD-414, whichever applies

Before entering into quantity production, an acceptable preproduction sample of Lc6 MARK 104 MOD O impulse cartridges shall be prepmed. Of these cartrid

    32、ges, 36 shall be expended in the tests listed below and ten shall be retained for investigative purposes, A pre- production sample acceptable for environmental and functional testing shall be defined as a sample which has met the requirements of piragra-phs 3.3 through 3.6.3 of this specification. P

    38、l, Major or Minor in accordance with UR-43. Tests and examinations that verify critical characteristics are identified by the symbol (C), and major characteristics by the symbol (M). The number following the clas- sification symbol indicates the serial number of test or examination. Tests and examin

    39、ations which are not annotated ntth a classification code are classified minor. 4,6 Quality conformance inspection, Quality conformance inspection shall consist of verification of the characteristics classified on the drawings of LD 491831, and verification of the following requirements and tests: 6

The contractor shall provide verifica- tion that the primers to be used were manufactured, l

    43、oaded and accepted in accordance with the requirements of 3.4 and were furnished from lots manufactured within the preceding 12 months. 4.7.2 Primer x-ray, Examine all primers by x-ray and reject those having any of the defects of 3.4.1. For the most revealing exposure, the primers shall be laid on

    44、their sides with the anvil cutouts vertical. Fressure sensitive tape may be used as an aid in positioning the primers.
