SCOPE 1.1 Intended use. This commercial item description covers requirements for a wh
2、ite web belt with sword carrying attachment for wear by female officers and optional wear by male officers of the U.S. Marine Corps with the white dress uniform. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Salient characteristics. The belt shall be a white webbing with cloth bound ends and velcro closure for siz
3、e adjustment. The sword carrying attachment shall be made from white leather with a black poromeric loop holding a metal slide for attaching the sword hook. The completed attachment is slid over the belt and sewn to the belt through all plies. The belt shall be provided in two lengths of 36 and 46 i
4、nches. 2.1.1 Webbins. The cotton webbing shall be 1 1/4 inch wide, bleached white and contain a minimum of 94 yarns in the warp and 46 yarns in the filling directions and a minimum weight of 1.90 ounces per linear yard. 2.1.2 Leather/Doromeric. The white leather and black poromeric components shall
5、be of high quality and a minimum of 1/16 inch thick. 2.1.3 Velcro fastening taDe. The tape shall be 1 inch wide, white shade, with 8.0 mil hook in nylon or polyester with approximately 375 hooks per linear inch and 50 picks per linear inch. The slide shall be brass, nickel finished, 1 1/4 by 9/16 inch wide with 1 1/8 inch openings and made from 1/8 inch round stock. 2.1.5 Thread. The thread for stitching the sword attachment,
8、 velcro and cloth binding for the ends of the belt shall be white polyester cotton covered,ticket No. 30, 2 or 3 ply conforming to A-A-50199. 2.1.6 Cloth binding. The cloth for binding the ends of the belt shall be 3.7 ounce white rayon or nylon twill. Both ends of the belt shall be bound with the e
9、dges of the binding turned in and the ends turned back onto the belt and stitched to give the ends of the belt a finished, neat appearance. 2.2 Sizes. The belt shall be in two sizes, 36 inches for the small to medium and 46 inches long for the large and x-large sizes. 2.3 Construction. The two white
10、 leather attachment pieces shall be cut 2 1/4 x 3 inches. Cut a 1 1/4 inch slit centered 3/4 inch below the top edge of one 3 inch wide piece. Cut the black poromeric loop 1 x 2 1/2 inches long. Loop the poromeric strip through one opening of the slide, fold the ends of the loop even and insert the
11、cut ends 1/2 inch through the slit in the white leather piece. Secure the loop to the leather with two rivets or two eyelets, through all plies forming the loop assembly. The loop should finish with approximately 3/4 length on the outside. Place top ply assembly to under ply, back to back, and stitc
12、h top and bottom edges 3/16 to 1/4 inch from edges, using 6 to 8 stitches per inch so as not to cut the leather. Cut hook and pile velcro pieces 10 inches long for the 36 inch belt and 12 inches long for the 46 inch belts. Stitch the tape on opposite sides of the belt with the ends even with the bel
13、t ends. Stitch all sides of the tape. Slide the leather assembly on to the belt with the hook portion of the fastener tape on the inside. Fold the belt end to end and position the back end of the assembly 1 to 1 1/2 inches from the center of the belt, toward the hook end. Stitch the assembly to the
14、belt with two rows of stitching across the width of the belt. The stitchings to be as near as possible to the ends of the slit in the outer ply. (see figure i.) 2.4 Label. Each belt shall have a label sewn to the inside of the belt near the end that shows the contractor name, belt size and Marine Co
15、rps approval number. 2.5 Workmanshiri. The finished belts shall conform to the quality of product established by this document. The contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent possible. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE 4.1 Certification. The contractor s
17、hall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the firs
18、t delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for, under the provisions of the contract. Reliance on contractor quality assurance systems shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with a
19、ll requirements of the contract. 4.2 Defects. Each belt shall be examined for defects as: spots or stains, color not as specified, raw edges on tape or bindings, loose stitches, any material defect, distorted parts or poor workmanship, component part omitted or improperly positioned, label missing o
20、r illegible, measurements not as specified or assembly sewn to wrong side of belt. 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Preservation, packins and markins. Each belt shall be placed in a clear polyethylene bag with visible label. Quantities of belts will be packed in commercial containers necessary to protect the produc
21、t during shipment. 6. NOTES 6.1 Amroval. Belts manufactured and sold to U.S. Marine Corps exchanges shall have Marine Corps Approval prior to sale. Approval of belts will be accomplished by presenting two sample belts to the Commander(Code 855) , Marine Corps Logistics Bases, 814 Radford Blvd, Alban
