    4、bilizer bars which are used in front suspension systems for truck applications. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the requirements for raw material, heat treatment, microstructure, mechanical properties, dimensional tolerances, source approval, and quality control. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substanc

    5、es Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the CEMS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. The following Specifications, St

    7、S A-0, Part I SAE J442 INTERNATIONAL CEMS A-39 4.0 REQUIREMENTS 4.1 MaterialOpen hearth, basic oxygen or electric furnace, ingot cast, or strand cast steel may be used. Unless otherwise specified, the general requirements for steel as described in ASTM A 29 shall be applicable. Steel supplied shall

    8、be fully killed, made to fine grain practice, and shall meet the minimum Steel Cleanliness Requirements of Class I per CEMS A-0, Part I. Nonmetallic inclusions shall not exceed grade 3 (JK scale) per ASTM E 45, Method A, or Rating Grade 6 per SAE J422. This document is restricted and may not be sent

    10、izer Bars B This document is restricted and may not be sent outside International Truck and Engine Corporation or reproduced without permission from 4.2 Chemical composition The raw material used for production of the stabilizer bars shall meet the following compositional requirements in order to ac

    11、hieve the specified drawing requirements and other requirements of this specification (unless otherwise agreed upon between supplier and purchaser): Carbon 0.55% min. Phosphorus 0.030% max Sulfur 0.050% max Alloying elements as required 4.3 Heat TreatmentBars shall be hardened and tempered at 425C (

    12、800F) minimum so as to obtain a Brinell hardness of 388-429 HBW (42-46 HRC), except in designated areas of the bar as shown on the applicable drawing. Hardness shall be checked at 0.8 mm minimum below the surface at or near the center of the bar after grinding away any decarburization layer. 4.4 Mic

    13、rostructure The microstructure shall consist of 90% minimum tempered martensite at the center of the bar. The steel shall be fine grained (size 5 or finer, per ASTM E 112 or ASTM E 1382), and exhibit uniform grain distribution. Intergranular oxidation shall not exceed 0.05 mm (0.002 in.). After heat

    14、 treatment, there must not be any complete decarburization. Depth of partial decarburization (Type 2, per SAE J419) shall be controlled within the following limits: Bar diameter Decarburization depth Up to 20 mm (0.79 in.) 0.20 mm (0.008 in.) max Greater than 20 mm (0.79 in.) 1% of bar diameter 4.5

    15、Endurance Test Requirements The stabilizer bars shall meet the requirements for endurance testing specified in the table below. Testing will be performed with one end of the stabilizer bar constrained or connected to the axle, thereby holding it in place, while the other end of the bar would be load

    16、ed vertically with the fully reversed load specified in the table for the given part number. If specified, the bar should be further constrained in the center section by bushings located consistently with the positions of bushings on the vehicle. durance Testing Requirements Part No. Test Load B(10)

    19、les shall be endurance tested for initial qualification. For existing parts with prior production history, 3 samples are to be tested. 4.6 Shot Peening Shot peening shall be performed in accordance with CEMS A-39 to 95% coverage. Use Almen “A” No. 2 strip gage (SAE J442). Arc height to be 0.4-0.5 mm

    20、 on nonrotating fixture, or 0.3-0.4 mm on rotating fixture. 4.7 Dimensional Tolerances The dimensions and geometric form of the stabilizer bar shall be checked to ensure the contours, fillets, and internal dimensions which are not measurable. 4.8 Marking Unless otherwise specified on the drawing, ma

    21、rking shall be easily legible, positioned so as not to be removable by subsequent processing, and shall consist of: Producers trademark Production date In addition, the stabilizer bar shall be marked with paint for identification. Color and position of the strip paint shall be specified on the drawi

    22、ng. 4.9 Coatings Finished parts shall be painted in accordance with TMS-9009, and must meet the performance requirements of TMS-9009, Class II, unless otherwise specified on drawing (250 hrs min. ASTM B117 salt spray exposure with maximum creepage 1.5 mm/0.06 in). 5.0 QUALITY Surfaces of the bars sh

    23、all exhibit no visual evidence of significant discontinuities such as laps, scale, scabs, slivers, tool marks or gouges. The maximum depth of surface imperfection is 0.15 mm (0.006 in.). The stabilizer bar shall be free from cracks, deep pits, or other defects which might affect the durability of th

    24、e stabilizer bar. Supplier shall perform suitable techniques to guarantee that material is free from internal defects which could be detrimental to fatigue performance. A quality control plan for this product will be established by mutual agreement between International and the supplier. 6.0 SOURCE

    25、APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL6.1 Supplier RequirementsAll suppliers to International Truck and Engine are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. International will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part App

    26、roval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their International Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 ApprovalParts supplied against contracts or purchase orders c

    27、iting this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples that were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, Corporate Technical Standards. Suppliers are require

    29、n from processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Truck Development and Technology Center and International Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this s

    30、pecification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910, shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process ControlThe supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produce

    31、d using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using Int

    32、ernational plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING, AND IDENTIFICATION Packing, shipping and identification shall be in accordance with International Mfg Std.
