    4、mits prior to use. 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers a molded cellular polyurethane foam which forms an integral skin and is suitable for use in certain interior truck trim applications. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the general requirements, property and performance requirements, qual

    5、ity, quality control, and source approval for the coating, the integral skin, and the cellular polyurethane foam. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specifica

    6、tion. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. The following standards, specifications and regulations are referenced in this specification. Quality System Standard ISO 9001 or TS-16949 ASTM D 3574 ASTM D 2247 NAVISTAR Supplier Pac

D-13 ASTM D 624 ASTM D 412 CFR Title 29, Part 1910 ASTM D 2240 ASTM D 653 FMVSS 302 ASTM D 3359 ASTM D 47 NAVISTAR MPAPS P-9544 ASTM D 3884 ASTM G 53 NAVISTAR MPAPS B-50 SAE J323 SAE J861 NAVISTAR MPAPS P-9543 ASTM D 429 4.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Color, Finish, and Texture

    8、Color shall be specified on the engineering drawing for each part number. Color must match Navistar Paint Chip Color Standards (available from Materials Engineering). Color, finish, and texture of parts supplied to this specification must match the approved pre-production samples on file in the Indu

    9、strial Design Department. FEBRUARY 2017 Page 2 of 5 4.2 Coating Thickness, min: 0.25mm (0.01 inch) Color: To match Navistar color paint chip for the color specified on the engineering drawing. 4.3 Integral Skin Thickness: 6.4 1 mm (0.25 .04 inch) Color: Pigmented to provide 90% color match to the colo

    11、r specified on the part drawing. 4.4 Cellular Polyurethane Elastomer Density, (ASTM D 3574, Method A) Core Sample: 10 kg/m (0.62 lbs/ft) minimum Color: Pigmented to provide 90% color match to the color specified on the part drawing. 4.5 Property And Performance Requirements Material supplied shall m

    12、eet all requirements of this specification unless otherwise specifically designated on the engineering drawing. 4.5.1 Finished Parts 4.5.1.1 Hardness ASTM D2240, Method A: Required: 50 5 points 4.5.1.2 Dry Heat Age - ASTM D 3574 Test K except as indicated below: Short term test - 1 hour at 100C (212

    13、F) Long term test - 168 hours at 65C (150F) Required: There shall be no blistering, softening, or discoloration. Hardness shall not increase by more than 10 points. 4.5.1.3 Adhesion to Inserts ASTM D 429 Method B, use for metal or plastic inserts. Test before and after Dry Heat Age in section 4.5.1.

Required: 600 N/m(width), foam failure only, adhesive failure shall be considered as failing this test. 4.5.2 Integral Skin and In-mold Coating Properties shall be measured on a film cut from a molded part such that the thickness of the skin and included foam is 2.5 mm (0.1 inch) 0.25 mm (0.01 in

    15、ch). 4.5.2.1 Tensile Test - ASTM D 412, Method 4, Die A: Required: Tensile Strength: 1.2 MPa (180 psi) min Elongation: 80% min 4.5.2.2 Tear Resistance - ASTM D 624, D14 C: Required: 4.4kN/m (25 lbf per inch) minimum 4.5.2.3 Low Temperature Resistance - SAE J323, Method A, -32C (-25F) Required: Pass

    16、4.5.2.4 Abrasion Resistance - ASTM D 3884, CS #10 Wheel, 500 gm load, 500 cycles Required: No appreciable loss of grain, texture, or any color change. FEBRUARY 2017 Page 3 of 5 4.5.2.5 Performance Requirements The following performance tests for the integral skin and coating may be performed on any co

    18、nvenient sample of the finish surface having thickness of not less than 2.5mm (0.1 inch). 4.5.2.5.1 Humidity - ASTM D 2247, Method: Prepare samples as described in the Test Method. Scribe an “X“ through the coated surface. Expose the scribed surface to 100 hours of condensing humidity. Required: Coa

    19、ting shall not exhibit any blistering, spotting, discoloration, softening, or loss of adhesion at a distance greater than 1.6mm (0.063 inch) from the scribed lines and shall pass the adhesion requirement listed below: 4.5.2.5.2 Coating Adhesion Test - ASTM D 3359, Method A Required: 5A rating, minim

    20、um 4.5.2.5.3 Sunlight Resistance - ASTM G 53 Required: There shall be no color alteration after 200 hours of continuous exposure to UV-A fluorescent light. 4.5.2.5.4 Color Fastness - SAE J861, Method: Perform crock test, dry, wet, with petroleum Naptha, with Xylene, and with Fuel B (ASTM D 47). Requ

    21、ired: Minimum rating of 4 on the AATCC color transference chart. 4.5.3 Cellular Polyurethane Foam Prepare samples by removing the integral skin and coating to a depth of 2.5mm (0.1 inch) minimum. 4.5.3.1 Tensile Test - ASTM D 412, Method A, Die A Required: Tensile Strength: 0.45 MPa (65 psi) minimum

    22、 Elongation: 70% minimum 4.5.3.2 Tear Resistance - ASTM D 624, Die C Required: 1.8 KN/m (10 lbf per inch) minimum 4.5.3.3 Compression Set - ASTM D 3574, Test D, 50% Defection Required: 50% maximum set. 4.5.4 Flammability Material and parts must conform to and be certified by the supplier to meet all

    23、 requirements of the latest issue of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 302 - Flammability of Interior Materials, and all requirements of MPAPS P-9544. 5.0 QUALITY Material supplied to this specification shall be free from objectionable odor, and shall be uniform in color, finish, and

    24、 texture. All material produced to this specification shall be clean and free of dirt, grease, and contamination. All rubber debris from cutting and processing shall be removed. Parts shall be free of voids. 5.1 Qualification Materials submitted for approval to this specification shall include the f

    25、ollowing: 5.1.1 A detailed, signed test report documenting testing to this specification per MPAPS P-9543. FEBRUARY 2017 Page 4 of 5 5.1.2 The complete procedure used for preparing and curing materials for test, especially surface preparation (when appropriate) and condition of the test materials. 5.1

    27、.3 A complete description, including engineering prints and pictures of any non-standard test fixtures used. 5.1.4 Adhesive, substrate and any chemicals used for bonding where appropriate. 5.2 Submission The material test report shall be submitted to: Materials Engineering and Technology Dept. 10400

Formal approval is not granted until this report has been published. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requiremen

    29、ts All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must mainta

    30、in their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples, which were

    31、approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering at TDTC

    32、and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the requ

    33、est for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of

    34、providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using Navistar plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION Loading, packing and identification shall be

    35、in accordance with Navistar Supplier Packing and Shipping Standard D-13. 8.0 DESIGNATION DRAWINGS Color shall be specified on the engineering drawing for each part.
