4、 use. 1.0 APPLICATION This specification outlines the minimum requirements for a coiled nylon tubing assembly that may be used in the air brake system. The use of this product is restricted by SAE J844 and must have approval of Navistar Integrated Product Development Brake Group. 2.0 SCOPE This spec
5、ification covers the general requirements, property and performance requirements, and the quality control requirements. An approved source list is included. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with t
6、he requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. 8、s of this specification and the requirements of the latest issue of MPAPS F-7006. 4.1 Material The assemblies shall be constructed of reinforced tubing meeting the requirements of MPAPS F-7006. 4.2 Appearance The tubing assembly shall conform to and be equivalent in surface finish and color to that
9、of the pre-production samples approved by Navistar Industrial Design. Assemblies supplied to this specification shall be smooth and uniform, free from any visible defects, foreign matter, kinks, seams or any other conditions that would impair the performance. 11、ation shall be consistent in hue and of uniform saturation so that it matches the appearance of pre-production approved samples and meets the applicable color requirements of the aforementioned standards. Approved color shall be designated on the assembly drawing. 4.4 Fittings Fittings shall be made
12、 from brass and spring guards of steel, meeting the dimensional requirements shown on the engineering drawing. Steel shall be plated with zinc plating, Class 8A, MPAPS G-20 or painted per MPAPS G-9009, Class IIA. Spring guard free end shall be rounded and relieved to prevent abrasion of nylon tubing
13、. 4.5 Property and Performance Requirements All assemblies furnished to this specification shall meet the provisions and requirements of TMS-7006, and, in addition, the following requirements: 4.5.1 Sag Resistance 4.5.1.1 Method Extend coiled assembly to the maximum recommended working length (as sp
14、ecified on the part drawing) in a horizontal position by clamping at ends and hold for 16 hours at 24 3C (75 5F). While in the extended position, measure the deflection from a horizontal line at top of the coil at the assembly mid-point. Reduce the extension of the assembly to 50% of the recommended
15、 working length and hold. After 30 minutes, repeat the sag measurement. 4.5.1.2 Required Sag from the horizontal shall not exceed 4% of the maximum working length for full extension nor more than 8% of maximum working length for 50% extension. 4.5.2 Force of Extension 4.5.2.1 Method Extend coiled as
16、sembly to the maximum recommended working length at 24 3C (75 5F). Using a spring scale or other suitable measurement device, determine total force of extension. 4.5.2.2 Required Force to extend to maximum working length shall not exceed 66.7 N (15 lbf). 4.5.3 Ovality - Nylon Tubing 4.5.3.1 Method:
17、ASTM D 2122, Section #7, Calculations M in im u m O .D.a x im u m O .D. x 1 0 0 4.5.3.2 Required: Shall be a minimum of 75% ovality. 4.5.4 Restriction 4.5.4.1 Method: Measure the inside diameter of the metallic sleeve (sleeve inside tubing). 4.5.4.2 Required: A 12.7 mm (1/2 in) O.D. coiled assembly
18、shall have a minimum sleeve I.D. of 8.0 mm (0.315 in). 4.5.5 Fitting Tensile 4.5.5.1 Method: ASTM D 622 4.5.5.2 Required: Minimum pull-off shall be 1.45 kN (325 lbf) 4.5.6 Spring Guard Tensile 4.5.6.1 Method: ASTM A 318, Section 3, with cross head speed of 2.5 cm (1 in) per minute. 20、6.2 Required Minimum force to remove spring from fitting shall be 223 N (50 lbf). 4.5.7 Quality Control Requirements The supplier shall perform the following control tests on production parts and on a continuing basis according to the test frequency stipulated: 4.5.7.1 Leak Test Two assemblies per l
21、ot shall show no leakage when tested for five minutes under 1.4 MPa (200 psi) air pressure. Leakage of sample part shall require 100% leak testing of the subject lot. Note: A lot is defined as the product of one size and/or color assemblies made during one day of production. 5.0 QUALITY Parts and as
22、semblies will meet the cleanliness requirements of MPAPS F-2 Level III. All product produced to this specification will be clean, free of dirt, grease, and contamination. All debris from cutting and processing will be removed. Any internal release agents shall be flushed from the inside of the tubin
23、g. There shall be no fabric or flash exposed on the ID of the hose. Parts shall be free of voids and/or reinforcement splices. 5.1 Certification Assemblies supplied to this specification shall be certified and records maintained to compliance with SAE J844 and MPAPS F-7006. These records shall be su
24、bject to periodic review by Navistar Supplier Quality personnel 6.0 QUALIFICATION Engineering qualification of sources is required in advance of production shipments. Samples shall be accompanied by test data certifying that all requirements of the specification have been met. 6.1 Quality Control Pl
25、an A Quality Control Plan for products supplied to the requirements of this specification will be established by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following characteristics, where applicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for man

28、pliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their c
29、ertification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 7.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by
30、 the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purcha
31、sing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for ch
32、ange. 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either, perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing
33、 all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 8.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING The tubing and fittings furnished to this specification shall comply with the identification requir
34、ements of SAE J844 and MPAPS F-7006 Shipping and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13.
