Change Notice: Replaced “International Truck and Engine Corporation” with “Navistar, Inc.” per corporate directive. 1.0 SCOPE This is a method to determine nonvolatile (solids) content of paint by weight. 2.0 APPARATUS 2.1 2.1 Plastic disposable syringe, 5 ml capacity, B-D Luer Lok No. 805

5、L/S or equivalent. 2.2 2.2 Recirculating oven which maintains a temperature of118 3C (245 5F). 2.3 2.3 Balance with a sensitivity of 0.0001. 2.4 2.4 Desiccator. 2.5 2.5 A syringe holding yoke, constructed from Nichrome wire. 2.6 2.6 This attachment is used to hold syringe vertically during weighing

Wipe the syringe tip with absorbent paper to clean the paint away. 4.5 Determine the total weight of the sample and syringe to + 0.0001 gram and record as

9、 weight W2. Weigh as rapidly as possible, preferably on a projection balance, keeping syringe in vertical position with a yoke accessory so that syringe opening is on top. 4.6 After transferring approximately 1 gram of paint from the syringe to the aluminum foil pan, reweigh the sample and syringe t
