    1、 = 9999974 0154859 047 = Jvetric December 3,1997 A-A-3 155 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION COAT RACK, WALL MOUNTED , WOOD, EXECUTIVE TYPE This Commercial Item Description was developed by the National Furniture Center, Federal Supply Service, General Services Administraton, Washington, D. C. 20406, base

    2、d upon currently available technical information. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This Commercial Item Description covers the general and detailed requirements for one size Executive type, wall mounted wood Coat Rack, available in three finishes. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Wood FinishesNoods The coat racks

    3、shall be available in three different finishes. Wood species shall be one of those specified after each fmish. Oak - on Red Oak or Ash Wainut-on Walnut, Cherry, or Mahogany L/ Mahogany - on Mahoganyll, Walnut or Cherry - 11 KhaydAfrican or SwietenidAmerican 2.2 The finish shall match the standard la

    4、minate samples in color, with a satin finish. The finishing process shall include compatible stain , sealers, fdlers (if necessary), lacquer, top coats and sanding and rubbing to meet the required finish test (4.2.2). The natural grain of the wood shall not be clouded by the fdhing process. It shall

    5、 be uniform, smooth, with no discoloration, grit, tackiness, peeling, flaking, blistering, cracking, damage or rub through. The finishes shall match the following standard samples as specified in the contract or order. Federal Walnut Standard Finish (FSS-L-01024) (Executive Office) Federal Mahogany

    6、Standard Finish (FSS-L-O 1025) (Executive Office) Federal Oak Finish (FSS-L-01023) 2.3 Wood. Wood used for exposed parts, shall be bright, well sanded, and free from brashness, discoloration, worm holes, splits, shake, or other defects which affect the appearance or which may affect the serviceabili

    7、ty of the fuiished product. All wood, shall be uniformly kiln dried to a 5 to 8 percent moisture content as determined by the oven-drying method. After drying, it shall be held in temperature and humidity controlled storage for a sufficient time to ensure uniform moisture distribution among the indi

    8、vidual pieces. The members shall be made of solid wood, a maximum of two full length glued pieces, carefully selected and assembled for similar grain and color. 2.4 Adhesives. The adhesives used shall be any that will develop an average block shear strength of 19 300 kPa minimum. (4.3.1) FSC 7195 1

The coat hooks shall be made of polished cast brass (Baldwin No. BH0781-030 or equal). The castings shaii be true, without air or sand hol

    10、es or other defects. AU ornamentation on face of the hardware shal have a clean and even surface. All surfaces shall be smoothly and evenly finished. Hardware shali receive minimum one coat of baked synthetic clear finish. 2.5.2 attach in Hardware. Each coat rack shall be provided with two minimum 3

    11、8 mm x M5 self tapping mounting screws for mounting to solid substrate. in addition, two minimum M5 (3/16”) x 63 mm toggle bolts shall be provided for optional drywall mounting. 2.6 Desim. The coat rack shall be a rectangular block of wood 610 mm long x 90 mm wide x 19 mm thick cut off at each corne

    12、r at about 45 degrees and shaped on the 4 upper edges in a continuous cove shape with its edges well rounded. The grain pattern shall run the length of the unit. About 100 mm from each end, counterbore holes for the instailation of mounting screws or bolts. The holes shaii be capped with snug fittin

    13、g 16 mm button plugs. (Tolerances length +/-2 mm, others +/- 1 mm) Four coat hooks shall be mounted to the face of the wood , approximately 165 mm apart with brass face screws. 3.1 Identification marking. Each coat rack shaii be permanently and legibly marked in an inconspicuous place with the Feder

    14、al Stock Number, contract number, date of manufacture and the manufacturers name or trademark so that the source of supply may be readily determined. 3.2 Workmanshin The methods of machining, finishing, assembly and the finished appearance of the coat rack shall be in strict accordance with the requ

    15、irements of this specification. Where specific requirements are not given, good commercial practice of the contract furniture industry shall be used. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 inme ction provisions. Details of the first article sample requirements are contained in the solicitation. In addi

    16、tion, approval of the first article sample authorizes the start of production, but does not relieve the contractor of responsibility fiom conformance with all other applicable provisions of this CID. Inspection requirements are stated in the solicitation. 4.2 Testing. Comwnent characteristic Referen

    17、ce Test Method Adhesive Block shear test 2.4 ASTM D 905-94 Finish Toughness and adhesion 2.2 4.2.2 herein 4.2.1 Test for Adhesives. Test in accordance with ASTM D 905. Rerun test if the average shear strength of aii samples is below 19 300 kPa; there is a 10 percent or greater difference between hig

    18、h and low specimen values, and at least one test specimen broke at more than 19 300 kPa. Disregard a test specimen in computing the average if it breaks at less than 19 300 Wa; and it has 50 percent or more wood faiiure. 4.2.2 Test for Finish. The toughness and adhesion test shall be made by usng Or

    19、ganic Coating Adhesion Tester, US Testing Company, Model Number 1001, in accordance with instructions for using, as provided for by the manufacturer of the tester (see 6.3). The panel shail be marred both parallel and perpendicular to the grain. The resuiting indentation shall be examined for whiten
