、 WORLDWIDE ENGINEERING STANDARDS Material Specification GMW16575 PVC - Flexible, Heat Stabilized, 60 to 90 Shore A, Mineral Filled, Extrusion or Injection Molding Compound Copyright 2012 General Motors Company All Rights Reserved July 2012 Originating Department: North American Engineering Standards

、 Page 1 of 5 1 Scope 1.1 Material Description. This specification covers the properties of a flexible, heat stabilized, mineral filled, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Homopolymer, pellet form, extrusion or injection molding compound. Materials are delineated by “Type” indicating Shore A or D hardness and

、“Grade”, indicating the intended molding process. 1.2 Symbols. The material abbreviation according to ISO 11469 is PVC . 1.3 Typical Applications. Typical applications include, but are not restricted to, automotive roof and moveable roof drain hoses, drain hose connectors and paintable grade PVCs. 1

、.4 Identification. PVC materials approved to this specification will be called out on the engineering drawing indicating both attributes shown in Appendix A, Tables A1 and A2, e.g., GMW16575P-PVC-Type X-Grade X. In addition, if the nominal production Shore hardness for a component is different than

、the nominal Type stated herein, it shall be called out specifically on the engineering drawing or in the math data, e.g., Type 1 = 60 5 Shore A, but 62 Shore A is being used, 62 X Shore A hardness shall be called out. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless otherw

If injection molded, die cut specimens are to be tested with the long axis of the test specimen perpendicular to the direction of flow. Plaque dimensions must be sufficient to permit this. 3.2.2 Test samples

、shall be aged a minimum of 40 h after molding and 24 h immediately following a conditioning period per GMW3221, Code A, unless otherwise specified.
