    3、icability. This standard determines the general requirements of the plastic cam cover. 1.1.1 Type 1. Press insert type plastic cam cover. 1.1.2 Type 2. The test facilities and equipment shall be in good working order and shall have a valid calibration label. 3.1.

    5、2 Alternatives. Alternative test facilities and equipment may also be used. However, all measuring variables as specified in this standard shall be determined correctly with respect to their physical definition. 3.1.3 Test Piece. Select a finished product or a portion of it for a test sample accordi

    9、age 2 of 6 Version : 3 3.2 Conditions. 3.2.1 Environmental Conditions. 3.2.1.1 Standard Conditions in the Laboratory. Set the temperature and the relative humidity at (+232) E , (505) % respectively for the standard conditions. But, when the laboratory is not in the standard conditions, record the t

    10、emperature and the humidity during the test. 3.2.1.2 Pre-Condition. Select a 72 hr-old product for a test sample and carry out a proper pre-condition for a detailed test method. 3.2.2 Test Conditions. Deviations from the requirements of this standard shall have been agreed upon. Such requirements sh

    11、all be specified on component drawings, test certificates, reports, etc. 3.3 Instructions. 3.3.1 Air/Water Leak Test. Select a finished product for a test sample, mount it on the cam support at a given torque(0.8 ) 1.2 Kgfm), apply max. 0.5 kg/cm2 2 min of air pressure to the cam cover into the wate

    12、r bath and visual-check it. 3.3.2 Weldability Test of Welded Area. Select a finished product for a test sample and use a UTM (Universal Test Machine) to evaluate the weldability degree (weldability, weld strength) of the cam cover and the baffle plate by separation force. 3.3.3 Impact Test at Low Te

    13、mperature. Select a finished product for a test sample, mount it on the cam support at a given torque(0.8 ) 1.2 kgfm), after aging (-30) E 4 hours in the chamber (2.5 J) the steel ball of 500 g from 50 cm above, and visual-check it. 3.3.4 Insert Resistance Test. Select a finished product for a test

    14、sample, remove the gasket, apply load until the insert is removed, checking load force from push pull gauge. 3.3.5 Saline Corrosion Resistance Test. Select a finished product for a test sample and test it based on EDS-T-7143-144. The test conditions are the following. 3.3.5.1 Test Condition. 35 E 14

    15、4 hours in 5 % of salt water. 3.3.6 Fluid Resistance Test. Select a finished product for a test sample, mount it on the cam support at a given torque (0.8 ) 1.2 kgfm), and apply a sufficient amount of test solution on the surface. The test conditions are the following. 3.3.6.1 Test Conditions. 3.3.6

    18、uid soap, power steering oil. 3.3.6.1.3 After aging 24 hours, apply 0.2 kg/cm2 2 min. of air pressure on the sample. 3.3.7 Oil Cap Resistance Test. Select a finished product for a test sample, free-fall it from 1 m above, and visual-check it. 3.3.8 Oil Cap Opening & Closing Torque Test. Select a fin

    19、ished product for a test sample and use a torque wrench to measure the torque applied at a closure of the air cap. 3.3.9 Gasket Aspect Test. Before welding, put the test on a cam cover and a baffle plate under the following conditions. 3.3.9.1 Test Conditions. 3.3.9.1.1 Jig: transparent acrylic plat

    20、e with a hole available for mounting. 3.3.9.1.2 Jig size: 400 mm (L) 250 mm (W) 20 mm (T). 3.3.10 Thermal Aging Test. Select a finished product for a test sample, mount it on the cam support at a given torque(0.8 ) 1.2 kgfm), replenish it with the specified engine oil, after aging 135 E 1000 hours i

    21、n the oven and carry out the following. 3.3.10.1 Test Items. 3.3.10.1.1 Impact test. 3.3.10.1.2 Insert resistance test. 3.3.10.1.3 Oil cap resistance test. 3.3.10.1.4 Oil cap opening & closing torque test. 3.3.10.1.5 Residual screwing torque test. 3.3.11 Thermal Cycle Test. Select a finished product

It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and det

    29、ermine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 3.5 Documentation. Samples of components or material released to this standard shall be tested for conformity with the requirements of this standard and approved by the responsible GM Department prior to the start of delivery of produc

    30、tion level components or materials. Any change to the component or material, e.g., design, function, properties, manufacturing process and/or location of manufacture requires a new release of the product. It is the sole responsibility of the supplier to provide the customer, unsolicited, with docume

    31、ntation of any change or modification to the product/process, and to apply for a new release. If not otherwise agreed to, the entire verification test shall be repeated and documented by the supplier prior to start of delivery of the modified or changed product. In some cases, a shorter test can be

    32、agreed to between the responsible GM department and the supplier. 4 Requirements and Procedure 4.1 General Requirements. Make sure that there are no harmful defects such as conspicuous sink mark, void and surface separation. 4.2 Detailed Requirements. Carry out the test provided in the section 3.3 t
