、 monitoring system 5. TEST PREPARATION 5.1. Test place This test shall basically be conducted in the shielded absorber lined chamber. If allowed by the national regulations, test may be performed in OATS. It may also be performed in the shield room. In this case, such shall be indicated in the test

、report. MOBILE TRANSMITTER TEST PROCEDURE EDS-T-5522PAGE: 2/5 ISSUED DATE: 1994. 11. 11 REVISED DATE: 2008. 11. 04 VERSION: 4 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology 5.1.1. Absorber lined chamber This test shall basically be conducted in the chamber having characteristics stipulated in SAE J551/2. When it is co

、nducted in the chamber, in the frequency at which the absorber does not function properly, reflection of the electromagnetic wave in the chamber may affect test results. Accordingly, special care is required when testing at this frequency. 5.1.2. Open area test site If allowed by the national regula

、tions, test may be performed in OATS. In this case, attention shall be paid to conformance to harmonic suppression regulations. 5.1.3. Shield room When required by test, a shield room may be used. 5.2. Test temperature When the test vehicle is being operated, proper cooling shall be carried out to p

、revent overheating of the engine. The standard temperature in the chamber is 235. When the above requirements cannot be met, the temperature shall be indicated in the test report. 5.3. Supply voltage For test requiring engine operation, an electric charging device shall be available. For test not re

、quiring engine operation, the battery voltage shall be kept to at least 12.2V for the 12V system and 24.4V for the 24V system. 5.4. Vehicle conditions Under agreement between the tester and electric parts supplier, the test shall be conducted on a dynamometer either at a steady speed of 50kph or in

、the idling conditions. 5.5. Electric parts conditions All electric parts mounted in the vehicle shall be operated in the normal operating mode. 6. TEST CONDITIONS 6.1. Test frequency The test frequency range is 1.8MHz - 1.3GHz. 6.2. Modulation When the transmitter installed in the vehicle is used, t

、he modulator equipped in the transmitter shall be used. In case of test in which the transmitter is simulated that can be installed in the vehicle, the following is usually recommended unless special agreement is made between the tester and the vehicle manufacturer. 6.2.1. CW (Continuous Wave) 6.2.2

、. 1KHz sine wave AM (amplitude modulation) 80% MOBILE TRANSMITTER TEST PROCEDURE EDS-T-5522PAGE: 3/5 ISSUED DATE: 1994. 11. 11 REVISED DATE: 2008. 11. 04 VERSION: 4 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology 6.3. Dwell time At each frequency, the test sample shall be exposed to the electromagnetic interference for

、 the minimum response time. In this case, this shall not be shorter than 2 seconds. 6.4. Test frequency step The frequency step shall be so set as not to exceed the maximum frequency step in Table 1 within the limit allowed by the equipment. When setting the frequency step, a logarithmic frequency s

、tep may be used. In this case, the frequency step shall be adjusted so that test will be performed at the same or larger number of points as in the case of using the linear frequency step for each frequency. This value shall be recorded in the test report. When the threshold of the test sample appea

、rs very close to the selected test level, the sizes of the frequency steps shall be subdivided in the related frequency range to find out the minimum threshold Note) In case the equipment cannot support the frequency step in Table 1, the frequency step shall be agreed on between the tester and test

、sample manufacturer and indicated as such. 6.5. Electromagnetic intensity It is necessary to perform test with a transmitter capable of generating the power corresponding to each frequency range stipulated in Table 2. In case of test simulating the transmitter installed in the vehicle, signals gener

、ated from the signal generator are amplified through the RF power amplifier and the power specified in Table 2 is transmitted through connection to the monopole antenna suitable for the frequency window. Note) In the transmitter simulation test, it is necessary to wind the RF choke (either ferrite o

、r powdered iron toroid is used depending on the test frequency range) around the coaxial line to the antenna in order to reduce skin currents on the coaxial line and precisely model the transmitter. 6.6. Selection of monopole antenna used in simulation A 1/4 wavelength or 5/8 wavelength antenna may

、be used. In the VHF and UHF bands, the 1/4 wavelength antenna is recommended, which can discharge more skin currents. Note 1) All antennas shall preferably be designed to have the lowest possible VSWR (generally 1.5: 1). It is desirable to select the antenna VSWR that does not cause changes in chara

、cteristic coefficient of the RF amplifier used. There is one exception in tuning the antenna to have the minimum VSWR. It is when trying to induce a large amount of electromagnetic wave inside the vehicle by letting large skin currents flow on the antenna coaxial cable according to the test plan. No

、te 2) VSWR is an intrinsic characteristic value regarding the transmission monopole antenna. This should not be adjusted when testing with the actual transmitter mounted in the vehicle. 7. TEST METHODS 7.1. Test plan Prior to the test, the test frequency, output, use of signal modulation, dwell time

、, antenna to be used, antenna mounting position, vehicle operating mode and electric parts operating conditions shall be recorded in the test plan. MOBILE TRANSMITTER TEST PROCEDURE EDS-T-5522PAGE: 4/5 ISSUED DATE: 1994. 11. 11 REVISED DATE: 2008. 11. 04 VERSION: 4 GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology In cas

、e of test with an actual transmitter mounted in the vehicle, transmitter wiring in the vehicle shall also be recorded. 7.2. Test procedures 7.2.1.
