    2、Page 1 of 7 HOSE, LOW PRESSURE, POWER STEERING RETURN WSS-M96D45-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a low pressure hydraulic hose. Hose assemblies shall be suitable for 1.7 MPa max working pressure. The hose is designed to operate through a tempera

    3、ture range of -40 to +150 C when used under environmental working conditions. The hose also possesses good flexibility at -40 C. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material suitable for use as return lines on hydraulic power steering units. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQ

    4、UIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.4 HOSE CONSTRUCTION The hose shall consist of a smooth bore synthetic rubber tube and high temperature and oil resistant synthetic

    5、rubber cover (see para 5). The tube shall be covered with a single ply of suitable braided reinforced textile. The hose may be coupled with a crimped metal end-fittings. 3.5 The following tests shall be performed on finished hoses and/or test specimens cut from them. The test specimens shall be die-

    6、cut from the finished parts and buffed or slit to the required thickness where necessary. When not feasible, specimens cut from molded test slabs manufactured from the same material with an equivalent state of cure shall be used. The test slabs shall have the following dimensions: 150 x 150 mm, min

    15、5033) 3.8.3 Tensile Strength (ASTM D 380, 25 mm/minute) This requirement applies only when couplings are used with the hose. Assemblies must withstand a min pull of 1.1 kN without the couplings separating from the hose, leakage at coupling connection or rupture of the hose. 3.8.4 Low Temperature Fle

    16、xibility (ISO 4672) Samples shall be subjected to -40 +/- 2 C for a period of 24 h, after which the hose shall be flexed in the cold chamber through 180 from the center line around a mandrel having a diameter of 8 times the nominal O.D. of the hose. Flexing shall be accomplished within 4 s. Hose sha

    17、ll not fracture or show any cracks, or breaks in the tube or cover.     18、here applicable shall be preconditioned by filling with current production approved power steering fluid closed at both ends and heat aged at 150 +/- 2 C for 70 h prior to impulse testing. For initial qualification the aged hose assemblies must withstand 400,000 impulse cycles at max working pressur

    19、e of 1.7 MPa without bursting or show any signs of failure. Initial qualification must be run to failure. Periodic certification testing thereafter shall require aged assemblies to withstand 100,000 impulse cycles at max working pressure of 1.7 MPa without failure while maintaining temperatures of t

    20、ransmission fluid at 150 C and the ambient air chamber at 145 C. Burst strength values from hose assemblies after completion of 100,000 impulse cycles shall not average more than 15% below the average of original results (para 3.8.1 and 3.8.3). Impulse Test Conditions: Oil Temperature 150 +/- 3 C Am

    22、After successful completion of 100,000 impulse cycles according to para 3.8.5, standardized ASTM specimens taken from the hose shall not exceed the following values: Tube Cover Hardness Change, max -15 +15 Tensile Strength -50 +35 Change, % max Elongation at Break -60 -65 Change, % max 3.8.6 Resista

    23、nce to Kinking Test Method: Insert required length of hose on test fixture securing each end with metal clamps. When installing hose, it shall be bent within 5 s in the same plane and direction as its free state curvature. Place fixture in an oven at 120 +/- 2 C for 1 h. Remove fixture from oven and

    24、 within 5 minutes pass a steel ball of specified diameter through hose installed on fixture. Ball must pass freely.     26、sample is on the test fixture. 3.8.7 Push-on Test, Hose Only The force required to apply a 400 mm length of return hose over a bumped tube (Figure 2) is not to exceed 133 N. 3.9 Identification markings Hose shall be identified with: . The size of inside diameter in mm, and hose manufacturers and/or

    27、coupling manufacturers code marking, and/or . Hose manufacturers construction number. Hose shall also be identified with an adequate date code to maintain lot traceability. It is the hose manufacturers responsibility to keep complete records against this date code showing the date of manufacturer of

    28、 hose materials and test results. Markings shall not be soluble in water or automatic transmission fluid or power steering fluid. These markings shall appear on the outer cover of the hose in contrasting color, at intervals of not greater than 250 mm. Each coupled hose assembly shall have a date cod

    29、e of coupling, the Ford Motor Company part number, and the coupling manufacturers identification mark stamped on either end fitting or the center connection. Additional manufacturers markings on the hose and/or coupling for more positive control is permissible. 5. HOSE CONSTRUCTION - ELASTOMERS Tube
