2、ST PREVENTIVE, CHASSIS WSS-M7C94-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a thin film, low viscosity, petroleum based rust preventive. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally to be specified on chassis components that are fabricated in
3、the USA and shipped by truck and sea to South America where the components are assembled and subsequently E-Coated. The rust preventive shall be suitable for application by dipping, spraying or brushing at ambient temperatures. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Mater
4、ial suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.3 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 3.3.1 Specific Gravity, at 20 C, min .80 - .95 (ASTM D 1298) 3.3.2 Viscosity, at 37.8 C, min 9 cSt (mm2/s) (ASTM D 445) 3.3.3 Flash Point, min 93 C (
5、ASTM D 92) 3.3.4 Shelf Stability, min 1 year 3.3.5 Removal Must be removable by hot alkaline cleaner 3.3.6 Volatile Organic Compounds (U.S. EPA Method 24) The V.O.C. content of this material shall not exceed .42 kg/L. 3.4 FILM BUILD Components coated to this specification must have 100% coverage. Page 2 of 2 3.5 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS 3.5.1 Substrate Hot Rolled Steel P&O, 100 x 300 mm, 2 to 3 mm thick (reference para 5.1). Prior to coating, alkaline clean and tap rinse panels until water-break fre
7、e. Apply rust preventive to panel at the suppliers min recommended film build to achieve performance requirements shown in para 3.6.1. 3.6. RESISTANCE PROPERTIES 3.6.1 Humidity Test, min No red rust (FLTM BJ 107-03) allowed after 10 days 3.7 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Specific requirements for material
8、 and/or manufactured parts shall be specified on the Engineering drawing, Engineering parts specification and/or performance specification. All critical areas with respect to these properties shall be clearly designated on the engineering drawing. 5.
