    2、OLDED IN-COLOR APPLICATIONS, EXTERIOR 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a weatherable themoplastic polyolefin (TEO) injection molding compound for body exterior ornamentation with suitable gloss and durability to achieve a Class “B“ surface. 2. APPLICATION This specification was

    3、 released originally for material used for body side moldings, claddings, wheel lips and other body exterior ornamentation to achieve a Class “B“ surface. This material is to be used for accent colors only. This material cannot achieve an exact body color match and cannot meet the same gloss level o

    4、r weathering performance as body paint. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1.1 All requirements of this specification, identified by s

    5、ymbol (s), shall be met with data representing 3 sigma values. 3.2 MOLDING COMPOUND (s) 3.2.1 Melt Flow Rate 27 - 34 g/10 minutes (ISO 1133, 240 C, 2.16 kg) (s) 3.2.2 Mineral Filler Content, max 3% (ISO 3451-1, Method A, talc filler, 3 h at 565 +/- 25 C, test portion 4 - 5g) 3.3 MOLDED TEST SPECIMEN

    6、 3.3.1 Preparation of Test Specimens Unless otherwise specified all tests shall be carried out on injection molded one-end gated test specimens.     7、nsions are required: A. 150 minimum x 10 x 4.0 +/- 0.2 mm (ISO 3167, Type 1A) B. 60 x 60 x 2.0 +/- 0.1 mm (ISO/DIS 294-3) C. 355 x 100 x 1.0 +/- 0.1 mm (ISO 3795) Test specimen A shall be molded using molding conditions defined in ISO 1873-2. Specimens with shorter dimensions shall be cut from the c

    8、enter of the specimen A. No annealing allowed. 3.3.2 Density 0.88 0.94 g/cm (ISO 1183, Method A) 3.3.3 Hardness, Durometer D 55 - 65 (ISO 868, 15 s dwell) (s) 3.3.4 Tensile Strength at Yield, min 16 MPa (ISO 527-1 & ISO 527-2, 150 minimum x 10 x 4.0 +/- 0.2 mm specimen, test speed: 50 mm/minute) (s)

    9、 3.3.5 Flexural Modulus, min 600 MPa (ISO 178, 80 x 10 x 4.0 +/- 0.2 mm specimen, use center section of specimen A, 2 mm/min test speed, 64 mm support span) 3.3.6 Tensile Stress/Strain Curves (ISO 527-1, ISO 527-2, ISO 11403-1 150 x 10 x 4 mm specimen specimen A Test speed shall be 5 mm/minute for a

    10、ll materials) A tensile stress versus strain curve must be provided using one specimen per lot at each of the following temperatures: -40 C, 23 C and 80 C (Page 8). (s) 3.3.7 Impact Strength, Izod, min (ISO 180/1A, 80 x 10 x 4.0 +/- 0.2 mm specimen, 10 specimens for each test) 3.3.7.1 At 23 +/- 2 C

    11、30 kJ/m23.3.7.2 At -40 +/- 1 C 2 kJ/m23.3.7.3 At 0 +/- 2 C 4 kJ.m2 The test specimens must be conditioned for a minimum of 6 h at the above specified temperature prior to impact test. Low temperature testing shall be done within the cold chamber, if not possible, test may be conducted outside, but w

    13、, 0.34 +/- 0.1 mm deflection. At 1.80 MPa) 3.3.9 Heat Aging Performance (ISO 188, except 150 +/- 50 air changes/h, 1000 h at 120 +/- 2 C. Unaged property values shall be determined at the time of the aged properties determination) 3.3.9.1 Tensile Strength at Yield Change +/- 20% (Test Method per par

    14、a 3.5.3) 3.3.9.2 Impact Strength, Izod Change +/- 25% (Test Method per para 3.5.6.1, specimens to be notched before heat aging) 3.4 APPEARENCE PROPERTIES 3.4.1 Color As determined by (FLTM BI 109-01 Visual Assessment) Color Harmony team (SAE J1545, Three-Angle CMC) Shall match the Master Appearance

    15、Sample or initial sample as approved by Design Center. 3.4.2 Appearance Color, gloss and surface finish shall match the Master Appearance Sample or the initial sample approved by Design Center. 3.4.3 Visual Evaluation The finished parts shall show no evidence of deleterious surface defects. 3.4.4 Ha

    16、ndling Shall withstand normal handling without damage.     17、factory fill materials, Motorcraft products or equivalent) Deionized Water Liquid Soap Windshield Solution Neat and 30% concentration in deionized water Coolant Solution Neat and 30% concentration in deionized water Motor Oil Bug and Tar Remover No color change in excess of Gray Scale rating of 4-5

    18、(AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1/ISO 105-A02), surface distortion or permanent softening permitted. There shall be a minimum of 85% gloss retention as tested per FLTM BI 110-01. 3.5.2 Resistance to Acid Spotting (FLTM BI 113-02) No color change in excess of Gray Scale rating of 4-5 (AATCC Evaluation Pr

    19、ocedure 1/ISO 105-A02), surface distortion or permanent softening permitted. There shall be a minimum of 85% gloss retention as tested per FLTM BI 110-01. 3.5.3 Fuel Resistance (FLTM BO 101-05) Fuel Composition (FLTM AZ 105-01) By Volume: 1) CM15 2) CM15(ME15) 3) Diesel After 5 minutes recovery time

    20、, no color change in excess of Gray Scale rating 4 - 5 (AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1/ISO 105-A02), dulling, surface distortion or permanent softening permitted.     21、5.4 Resistance to Cleaning Agents (FLTM BN 107-01, cotton tipped 16 +/- 0.1 mm diameter cylinder, 9 +/- 0.1 N force, 23 +/- 2 C) The cotton tip shall be saturated with the following cleaning agents: Dry Deionized Water Ammoniated Glass Cleaner 1:1 Isopropyl Alcohol: Water Ford All Purpose Cleaner (c

    22、urrent release) Armor-All Rub a 100 +/- 1 mm length of the test surface with 10 double (forward and back) rubs. No color change in excess of Gray Scale rating of 4 - 5 (AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1/ISO 105-A02), dulling (90% gloss retention per FLTM BI 110-01), surface distortion or permanent soften

    23、ing permitted. 3.5.5 Road Asphalt Stain Resistance, maximum 1.5 E (For applications below the beltline) Prepare a solution of 50% asphalt cement and 50% unleaded gasoline. Dip the test specimen in the solution for 10 seconds. Suspend specimen for 15 minutes allowing the solution to drain/evaporate.

    24、Clean specimen thoroughly with naptha. Use an untested portion of the part as the control. Before and after staining, measure the color per SAE J1545, CIELAB color space, 10 observer, illuminant D65, specular included. Calculate E. 3.5.6 Resistance to Wax (FLTM BI 164-01) No color change in excess o

    25、f Gray Scale rating of 4 - 5 (AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1/ISO 105-A02), surface distortion, etching or permanent softening permitted. There shall be a minimum of 85% gloss retention as tested per FLTM BI 110-01. 3.5.7 Mar Resistance 85% Gloss Retention (FLTM BI 161-01 & FLTM BI 110-01) 3.5.8 Scratc

    26、h Resistance Rating of 1 at 2N (FLTM BN 108-13, 1 mm diameter ball) Scratch Mark 3.5.9 Chip Resistance (SAE J400, 4.7 liters of gravel) There shall be no whitening of the damaged area after 4.7 liters (10 pints) of gravel.     27、d Copyright 2005, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 6 of 8 3.6 FLAMMABILITY (ISO 3795) Burn Rate, max 100 mm/minute The specimen size required for material approval is 355 x 100 x 2.0 +/- 0.1 mm with a smooth surface. 3.7 WEATHERING RESISTANCE After exposure in accordance with 3.7.1 and 3.7.2 the m

    28、aterial shall show no color change in excess of specified Gray Scale rating (AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1/ISO 105-A02). In addition, there shall be no cracking, crazing or other deterioration. A slight loss of gloss or chalking will be allowed provided an acceptable appearance can be achieved by was

    29、hing and/or polishing with Ford car polish (auto wax) after the outdoor exposure, at permission of the affected Product Development Materials Activity. All initial approvals will be based on the preliminary Weatherometer exposure, pending Florida and Arizona exposure results for final approval. 3.7.
