SCOPE The materials defined by this spec

    2、ification are steer or heifer hides which have been tanned and processed with minimal grain and no alteration to the top surface which allows for a soft haptic without sacrificing the leathers physical properties. Top coat is a finish that allows for a premium haptic which is a primary attribute for

    3、 this leather. Top coat finish is not engineered to meet high abrasion characteristics. 2. APPLICATION These specifications were released for material used as seating leather. 2.1 LIMITATION This specification cannot be used for instrument panel covers, steering wheels or door uppers. 3. REQUIREMENT

    4、S 3.1 APPROVED SOURCES This specification requires the use of approved sources. Only the sources identified on the Ford Approved Source List (ASL) can be used when this specification is listed on the drawing, CAD file, or other documents. The list of approved sources is located within Ford at or av

    5、ailable externally through a Ford Materials Engineer. 3.2 SUPPLIER RESPONSIBILITY It is the Leather suppliers responsibility to inform the JIT supplier that subjecting leather to steam or radiant heat or organic solvents during any manufacturing process will adversely affect the hand and appearance

    6、characteristics. 3.3 APPEARANCE The color, grain, gloss and hand shall match the approved Corporate Design master sample. 3.4 LEATHER PERFORMANCE Materials manufactured to this Specification shall also meet the requirements contained in WSS-M99P43-D/latest. 3.5 VEHICLE INTERIOR ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORM

    7、ANCE Materials used in interior applications must meet the requirements outlined in WSS-M99P2222-D1/latest, Performance, Vehicle Interior Environmental Quality Material/Component Requirements.     8、ight 2017, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 2 of 3 3.6 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONS All test values are based on material conditioned for not less than 24 h prior to testing in a controlled environment of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5% relative humidity. Testing of the material should occur in the c

    9、onditioning environment or soon after removal. 3.7 SAMPLE SELECTION LOCATIONS The location of the test samples is described in ISO 2418 or ASTM D2813 for physical testing of leather samples. Refer to WSS-M99P43-D/latest for samples to be taken from the belly and backbone areas as noted in Table 1 of

    10、 that specification. 3.8 FINISH All hides shall show no paint defects or surface blemishes affecting the appearance of the material, such as brush marks or stops. 3.9 THICKNESS 1.0 - 1.5mm (ASTM D 1813) or as specified on the Engineering Drawing 3.10 SHRINKAGE 5.0% max (FLTM BN 105-03, except Heat C

    11、ycle 100 +/-2 C, 3 cycles) 3.11 STIFFNESS 55 +/- 10mm (FLTM BN 157-02) Stiffness measurements shall be taken along either side of the backbone. Stiffness must be tested from a hide. Stiffness cannot be taken from a pre or post assembled trim cover. Embossed or laminated leather will impact stiffness

    12、 therefore, numerical results could occur outside of the range above.     14、es 4. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification.     16、btain an expression of interest from Purchasing, Design or Product Development, and Materials Engineering. The supplier shall submit a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the

    17、 requirements of the Material Specification. Tested material samples must be available for review upon request and kept for a minimum of one year. Upon request, the supplier will review the associated quality control documents (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Control Plans, Certification

    18、testing) with Ford. 4.3 SUPPLIERS ONGOING RESPONSIBILITY All materials must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to making any changes to the material originally approved, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to me

    19、et the specification requirements, the supplier shall notify the affected Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), Purchasing, and Materials Engineering activities of the proposed changes (with reasons) by submission of a completed Suppliers Request for Engineering Approval, SREA. For parts and componen

    20、ts using Ford Engineering Material Specifications, all samples tested to the specifications for Design Verification (DV), Production Verification (PV) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) sign off must be kept until Job 1. 4.4 RESTRICTED SUBSTANCE MANAGEMENT STANDARD Substance restrictions im

    21、posed by regulations or Company direction applies to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are identified in the Restricted Substance Management Standard WSS-M99P9999-A1 which is updated yearly. It is the suppliers responsibility to comply with this standard on a continuing basis through IMDS and or GMAP reporting. 5. SUMMARY OF REVISIONS
