SCOPEThis specification defines the performan

    2、ce requirements for polymer coatedsteel tubes and fuel tubes.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally to provide additional corrosionprotection for steel brake and fuel tubes.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand

    3、 ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 CONDITIONINGAll parts shall be aged for 72 h at 23

    4、 +/- 2 C or 16 h at 43 +/- 2 Cbefore testing for resistance properties.3.3 SYSTEM COMPONENTS3.3.1 SubstrateIn accordance with zinc plated WSA-M1A308-A2, Type 1, or asspecified on the Engineering Drawing.3.3.2 CleaningThe surface to be coated must be free from oil, grease, dirt,rust and other foreign

    5、 material.3.3.3 Coating MaterialSynthetic polymerENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSK-M2P139-AWP 3948-b Page 2 of 4 3.4 FILM PROPERTIES3.4.1 Colour and Gloss(FLTM BI 109-01, FLTM BI 110-01)As specified on the Engineering Drawing. Red and browncolours are not permitted.3.4.2 Initial HardnessThe coat

    6、ing shall be sufficiently hard at time o f packing andshipping to withstand normal handling without damage.3.4.3 Film Thickness4,97 mm max diameter coated tube, or as specified on the Engineering Drawing.Po lymer coating must be sufficient to meet all performancerequirements of this specification.3.

    7、5 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES3.5.1 Preparation of SpecimensIf not specified otherwise, prepare specimens as follows:Cut straight pieces of tube approx. 250 mm in length. Sealboth e nds, ie, dip both ends into suitable warm liquid wax(e.g. paraffin) having a melting point above 55 C or usesuitable end caps

    8、.Fasten the ends of 4 sp ecimens parallel to an ABS-plastic orequivalent panel approximately. 300 mm x 100 mm using tape(e.g. 3 M #898) and leaving a space of about 10 mm betweeneach specimen and backing sheet.3.5.2 AdhesionTest Method. Scribe the tubing surface to obtain a 3.2 mmsquare cross-hatch

    9、covering a minimum of 180 deg ofcircumference and 25 mm in length of tubing. Apply 3M #898type tape to the scribed surface. Remove tape slowly,applying an even consistent tension.No chipping or flaking.3.5.3 Chip Resistance(FLTM BI 107-01)Prepa re 10 specimens according to item 3.5.1 but fastenwitho

    10、ut space each specimen and backing sheet.The specimens shall be equal or better than the standardapp roved by the appropriate Product Engineering MaterialsLaboratory.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSK-M2P139-AWP 3948-b Page 3 of 4 3.5.4 Cass Test Resistance (FLTM BQ 105-01)(1 cycle = 16 h exposur

    11、e 8 h roomtemperature)Prepare 10 specimens ac cording to item 3.5.1. Do not scribethe surface of specimens.Straight and Formed Tubes 10 cyclesNo white corrosion or rust is allowed.NoteFormed Tubes are straight tubes bent evenly through 90degrees around a 30 mm diameter mandrel.3.5.5 Liquid Resistanc

    12、eThe su rface coating shall show no softening or other filmdefect when immersed for 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C in the currentproduction versions (as specified by the appropriate ProductMaterials Engineering Activity) of the following materials.Brake FluidGasolineDieselEngine OilPower Steering FluidAutomatic

    13、 Transmission FluidManual Transmission Fluid3.5.6 Distortion ResistanceTest Method. Bend spir ally at approx 15 mm spacing around a16 mm diameter mandrel at 23 +/- 2 C.The polymer coating shall not show any loss of adhesion.3.5.7 Temperature Cycling Resistance(For Initial Approval Only)Each cycle as

    14、 follows1h at 120 C +/- 1 C2h at 90 C +/- 1 C1h at 23 C +/- 2 C3h at -40 C +/- 2 C1h at 23 C +/- 2 C16h at 38 C +/- 2 C and 96 +/- 2 % RHAfter 10 cycles, no cracking, blistering, softening ordulling.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSK-M2P139-AWP 3948-b Page 4 of 4 3.6 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll m

    15、aterials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specifica

    16、tion, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test dat

    17、a, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffi

    18、x (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSThis specification is intended to define the performance and/or propertiesof finished parts or systems of combined materials. An EngineeringMaterial Approved Source listin g is not applicable for this specification.Produc t Engineering materials referenced in this document and/or theaffected engineering drawing wh ich require prior Engineering approval, aresh own in the Engineering Material Approved Source List under thespecification cited.
