2、INDER1. SCOPEThe material defined by this specification consists of a non-asbestosnon-cell ulose sheet with a nitrile rubber binder secured equally on bothsides of a low carbon steel core.2. APPLICATIONThis s pecification was released originally for material used for cylinderhea d gaskets where a ma
3、terial with moderate flange pressure at hightemperatures is required.3. REQUIREMENTSNote : All tests shall be conducted in accordance with ASTM F 104 Type 7material unless otherwise specified. The requirements of this specificationare va lid for gasket material of 0.7 to 1.6 mm thickness. Test speci
4、mensare to be selected from finished gaskets when practicable.Prior to testing the materials shall be conditioned in an oven at 100 +/-2 C for 1 h and allowed to cool to 21 - 30 C in a desiccator containinganhydrous calcium chloride.3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTSMaterial suppliers and part producer

APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Uponrequest, the supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized repres entative of the test facility,d
22、emonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications.
