    2、lly formulated to provide good adhesion to electrocoat andconventional spray primers.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for a decorative finish forcertain exterior parts such as wheels, etc.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of For

    3、d Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AN

    4、D/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated ma

    5、terial laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and

    6、50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame conditions unless otherwise specified.3.4 COMPOSITION3.4.1 VehicleTh e vehicle shall be essentially a synthetic water reducedpolyester modified to o btain maximum adhesion to electrocoatprimer (ESA-M62J13-B)

    9、-01)3.6 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS3.6.1 Panel PreparationSolve nt wipe (M14J148 Naphtha) panels of baked electrocoatpr imer (ESA-M62J13-B). Apply WSA-M62J31-A enamel to a dryfilm thickness of 25 - 38 micrometre.3.6.2 CuringMaterial shall be baked at 175 C for 30 minutes.3.7 APPEARANCE3.7.1 Color(FLT

    10、M BI 109-01)Shall match Ford Motor Company master panel.3.7.2 Gloss(FLTM BI 110-01, 60 deg glossmeter)The gloss shall be specified by means of a letter suffix tothe color number assigned by Styling, as follows:A: 92 minimum F: 35 +/- 3B: 80 +/- 4 G: 20 +/- 3C: 70 +/- 4 H: 10 +/- 3D: 62 +/- 3 J: 6 ma

    11、ximumE: 50 +/- 3ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSA-M62J31-AWP 3948-b Page 3 of 4 3.7.3 GeneralThe enamel shall cure o ut to a presentable, serviceable filmshowi ng no craters, pinholes, seediness or abnormal rough-ne ss. It shall have a reasonable tolerance to ordinarycleaning and polishing proce

    12、dures.3.8 FILM PROPERTIES3.8.1 HardnessShall be sufficiently hard at time of packing to withstandnormal handling and shipping without marring.3.8.2 Adhesion No flaking or(FLTM BI 106-01) chipping3.9 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES3.9.1 Water Immersion(FLTM BI 104-01)No failure by permanent color change, dulli

    13、ng, or blisteringin 96 h.3.9.2 Salt Spray Resistance(FLTM BI 103-01)Finish ed panels or parts shall show no blistering or morethan 3 m m corrosion, blister creepage, or loss of adhesionafter 240 h exposure.3.9.3 Accelerated Weathering 400 h(FLTM BO 101-01)The enamel shall exhibi t no checking and no

    14、 loss of gloss orcolor change than the approved master sample on file in theCentral Laboratory. The enamel shall not blister or show lossof adhesion.3.10 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval

    15、 wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier s

    16、hall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION

The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineerin

    18、gdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design

    19、and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirement

    20、s of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for i ntended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.
