Purpose and Scope This standard defines the requirements of weight marking of m

    2、achinery and equipment shipped into any Ford Motor Company facility that may be subject to lifting or transportation. 1.1 Applicability/Scope: This standard shall be applied to all machinery and equipment where individual pieces or groups of component pieces may be lifted or transported either in wh

    3、ole or as a sub-assembly. Any equipment or machinery which may be subject to lifting or transportation, having an individual mass exceeding 100Kg (220 lb), is subject to these requirements. All new machinery and equipment must comply with the requirements of this standard. Deviations to this standar

    4、d may only be obtained through respective Division Safety Offices. Equipment being removed from one Ford location and being installed in another Ford location is subject to the requirements of this standard. Facilities equipment such as cooling towers, air houses, tanks, fans, coolant systems and em

    5、ission control equipment are subject to the requirements of this standard. This standard shall apply to all Ford Motor Company locations. 1.2 Exceptions: Existing machinery and equipment shall be exempt from the requirements of the standard EXCEPT where machinery is removed from its original product

    6、ion location to undergo re-build and is re-installed in a new location. 1.3 Mandatory and Preferred Items: Mandatory requirements for this standard are characterized by the use of the word “shall“. There are no deviations for these requirements. Preferred items are characterized by the use of the wo

    7、rd “should“. 1.4 Objectives: The objectives of this manufacturing standard are as follows: Specify mandatory visual factory weight marking requirements for new equipment and machinery. Specify visual factory lift point identification requirements for new equipment and machinery. 2. Reference Standar

Definitions Manufacturing machinery Any piece of equipment used to machine, handle, or assemble components or other pieces of materials that are part of the automotive manufacturing and assembly process.

    11、 Gross weight The total weight of a collection of pieces of machinery or equipment contained on or within a unit package (i.e. pallet or shipping container). Net weight The total weight of an individual piece of equipment or machinery that is shipped as a unit load. 4. Appendices None 5. General Req

    12、uirements Individual component unit loads shall be labelled with the net weight of that piece of equipment or machinery. Pallets and packaging containing more than one piece of equipment shall be labelled or tagged with gross weight of all equipment and associated packaging. The weight marking of ma

    13、chinery and equipment to be delivered and installed in Europe must comply with the requirements of European Council Machinery Directive 98/37/EC, Annex 1, Paragraph 1.7.3 and 1.7.4. Personnel involved in handling equipment and machinery shall be trained in proper lifting and rigging practices. Manuf

Instructions / Requirements 6.1 Weight Marking Requirements All manufacturing machine

    15、ry and equipment components shall be labelled with net weight and center of gravity. Pieces of machinery and equipment that are broken down into multiple component pieces for shipment and are shipped individually shall have each piece labelled with its net weight. In the event that multiple individu

    16、al component pieces of equipment are shipped as part of one larger package, that package may be tagged with the gross weight of those components in lieu or marking each individual piece. Weight marking shall be legible, indelible, durable and unambiguous as to its meaning. The weights must be writte

    17、n in units appropriate to the region of the world where the equipment will be installed. The marking height should be minimum 50mm (2 inches) high and shall be painted, written, engraved or ground in, and laid out with contrasting color. The marking of machinery components shall not adversely affect

    18、 the functionality of the machinery or impinge on the purpose for which the machinery is intended. The materials used for weight marking, ie labels, paint, adhesive etc, shall be suitable for the application and must not themselves be affected by the machinery or any materials that may come into con

    19、tact with the weight marking during normal production operation. Custom built pallets with multiple pieces of equipment shall be visibly marked with the gross weight of the packing and equipment. Clarification of program specific weight marking requirements can be obtained from commodity manufacturi

    27、acturing Equipment Rev: 6.3 Location for Weight Marking The machinery and equipment weight marking shall be provided on the element or sub-assembly such that the information provided can be easily seen on a minimum of two (2) sides; this will assist in appropriate pre-lift planning to be undertaken

    28、to ensure the safety of personnel. Tags must also be prominently placed on two (2) sides of the container or pallet containing the component pieces. 6.4 Identification of Lift Points In order to assist in safe handling all equipment, lift points must be clearly identified. The identification of the

    29、lift points shall be via means that facilitate ease in identification and shall be clearly visible. The markings must be water and wear resistant. Markings must be made in the appropriate language and units where the equipment is received. Consideration must be given by shipper to consider how equip

    30、ment is to be unloaded when it arrives at the receiving location in order to facilitate safe handling (example tools and equipment used to unload). 6.5 Delivery Acceptance Ford Motor Company reserves the right to reject any shipment of equipment that is delivered and determined not to comply with re

    31、quirements of this standard. 7. Documentation of Machinery Weight Documentation supplied with new machinery and equipment shall include information regarding the weight of machinery and equipment elements and/or sub-assemblies. Information must be provided in the form of machinery assembly drawings

    32、annotated with component weights and as a tabulated bill of material with weights indicated. Where special lifting and rigging equipment is required to undertake lifting and/or transportation of machinery and equipment, this shall be clearly indicated within the documentation supplied.
