SCOPE The purpose of this Ford-Manufacturing Standard is to define the meaning and application of a limited number of colours for the identification of pipes conveying fluid

    2、s in liquid or gaseous condition. If desired, it may also be used to identify conduits carrying electrical services (see Ford-Manufacturing Standard U-EXOOl paragraph 10.4.1.5). Although similar to DIN 2403, BS 1710 and NF X08 100, there are fundamental differences and therefore the National Standar

    3、ds should not be used in their entiretv. 2. APPLICATION In all plant locations pipelines conveying fluids, shall, according to the importance of the installation and to the variety of media conveyed, be identified by;- a) Basic identificat,ion Iv for installations where the determination of merely t

    4、he basic nature of the fluid / contents is suffecient; b) Basic identification colour and code indications for installations where the precise determination of fluids is of great importance. 3. BASIC IDENTIFICATION COLOURS 3.1 Basi i ntifi t *g Green Aluminium Brown Yellow Violet Blue Black Red Oran

    5、ge water in liquid state steam mineral, vegetable and animal oils, combustible liquids gases in either gaseous or liquid condition (except air) acids and alkalis air and vacuum other fluids fire protection services electrical services. V Manufacturing Standards w 3.2 Method At the users choice the basic identification colour should be;- a painted on the pipe over the whole length; b) painted on the pipe as a band over a length of about 150 mm depending on the diameter of the pipe; c) applied by wrapping around t

    7、he pipe an adhesive band of the basic identification colour over a length of about 150 mm depending on the diameter of the pipe. Where banding is used as in (b) or cc), the decorative or protective colour of the pipe shall not be, or likely to be, confused with any basic identification colours. The

    8、banding identification colour should be placed at all junctions, at both sides of the valves, service appliances, bulkheads, wall penetrations and at any other places where identification of the fluid is necessary. 4. CODE INDXCATlONS The application of code indications should be determined by the u

    12、 applied as bands about 100 urn wide, depending on the diameter of the pipe, by any of the following methods;- a) painted on the basic identification colour; b) painted between two basic identification colour bands, each of a length of about 150 nun, depending on the diameter of the pipe (see figire

    13、 1); cl applied by wrapping around the pipe an adhesive colow band between two basic identification colour bands, each of a length of about 150 mm depending on the diameter of the pipe (see figure 1).     14、ety coloufs and code indication colours The code indications in 4.1 (c) and other information regarding the fluid such as the pressure and temperature should be placed on or next to the basic identification colour band. The names, abbreviations or chemical symbols should be either in white or in bla

    15、ck in order to contrast clearly with the colour of the pipe 01 with the basic identification colour and should be placed directly on the pipe or on a label, plate or sign fixed to the pipe near the basic identification colour. When labels, plates or signs are to be used on an installation in combina

    16、tion with a safety colour, the background colour of the labels, plates or signs shall be that of the safety colour.     17、uid, this should be indicated by an arrow situated in the proximity of the basic identification colour and painted white or black in order to contrast clearly with the basic identification colour. If a label, plate or sign with a codified indication is attached to the pipe, the direction of flow may

    18、 be shown by the pointed end of this label, plate or sign. For central heating systems aad other closed circuits where it is necessary to indicate separately the flow and return pipes, this should be done by the use of the wordf FLOW or the letter F on the one pipe, and the word RETURN or the letter

    19、 R on the other.
