    1、!ei!iIB Manufacturing Standards GENERAL REQUIREMENTS h?. GRINDING WHEELS 1. PURPCSE AND SCOPE This stauds.rd applies to grjndiug wheels and other bonded abrasives. This stsnds.rd does not apply to disxnond tools i.e. vheele or honiug stones or to specialties such ae sharpening stones uhere radically

    2、 different symbols are commonly used. This staudard establishes a symbol for each of the most essential characteristics of a grinding wheel, aud arranges these syabols in uuifozm sequence. This is au International Stendard System ofMarkiugs* in accordance with IS0 B525. Wheels bearing the same staud

    3、ard markinga if made by different wheel rmnufacturers cay not and probably will not produce the seme gxinding action. This desirable result cmuot be accomplished because of the impossibility of correlating sny m easurable physical properties of bonded abrasive products in terms of their grinding act

    4、ion. l Refer to Page 2 point 2.7.2 for au explsnation of the Ford adaptation to the Standard Maxkiug System. 2. SEQJEXCE OF MUICINGS Each mark* will consist of six parts, placed in the following sequence: 2.1 Abrasive Type 2.2 Grain Size 2.5 Grade 2.4 Structure 2.5 Bond Type 2.6 Mauufactuxerls Recor

    5、d 2.1 Abrasive Abrasives naturally fall into two distinct groups, namely the Aluminium Oxide group and the Silicon Carbide group. Letter symbols axe used to identify these two groups, as follows: A Aluminium Oxide C Silicon Carbide Uhere it is necessary to designate some particulsx type of these bro

    6、ad claasee, the manufacturer may use his own generally recognised symbol or brand designation as a prefix. 2.2 Grain Size Grain size is indicated by a number. The following list (fxoa coarse to fine) includes all of the ordinary gxaiu sizes commonly used by the company. It conform vith Bonded Abrasi

    7、ve Products - General Features IS0 525-1966, except the extreme large and small grain sizes which have been omitted: 20, 24, 30, 36, 46, 54, 60. 70, SO, 90. 100. 120. 150, 180, 220, 240, 280, 320. If and where it is necessary to indicate a special mixed grain combination, the wheel menufacturer may

    8、use an additional symbol appended to the regular grain symbol. 2.3 Grade The grade is indicated by a letter of the alphabet, A to 2, soft to hard, in all bonde or processes. 2. 4 Structure The use of a structure symbol is mandatory. Numbers from 0 to 14 cover the range of structures used. Progressiv

    14、 purpose the container must be marked). . wHEEcspEEDMAHKCNG 5.1 The shape end size of the mounted wheel, diameter of mea&e1 and overhanS of mandrel has an effect on safe operating speeds and must be adhered to as determined by National regulations. 5.2 The manufacturers shall mark the maximum operat

    15、ing speed on each g-rinding wheel. In the caee of wheels too small to accommodate the marking, the maximum speed must be marked on the container or ticket enclosed. 5.3 Mounted wheels, when stored in crib, shall be placed in blocks similar to those used for drills. Each block shall be clearly marked

    16、 with the Ford standard number, and the maximum operating speed. 6. PORTABLE GRINDHR COLLEI SPECIPICATION Where mounted wheels are used, the collets shall be such that the end of the men&e1 will bottom at a depth of 13rlmIn. This is a safety requirement for maintaining accurate control of the overha

    17、ng. . PLATEMOuNTEDGRINDINGWHHHLS All the required markings to be painted on the “nut“ or “plate“ side of the wheel. All nut inserts and paint to be flush with the backing material. No fibre washers to be used. 8. WEIEEI, BORES AND DlMENSIONS Holes and tolerances in grinding wheels shall be made to t

    18、he tolerances specified in IS0 R525-1566. . DELIVHRIANDSHIPPINGOFWHEELS Other than small vheels for hand tools, all grinding wheels (peripheral, aide and nut inserted) will be delivered on pallets with corrugated paper or a similar material between each wheel or in specially designed cartons. The wh

    19、eels are to be securely held on the pallets by metal strapping or similar approved material, using a cushioning material to protect the wheel edges. Each batch of wheels delivered by the vendor must have a certificate stating the wheel specification, recommended operating speed, date end order numbe

    20、r. This is for Departmental records. 10. STORAGE OF MEEELS All wheels must be protected while awaiting use. Wheel storage must be azrsnged to allow wheel selection and removal without diaturbjllg or damaginS other wheels.
