SCOPEThe materials defined by this specification are stone peck resistant repairmaterials for areas on which originally stone peck resistant materialSK-M99J9587-A has been applied and has been damaged or scratched.Furthermore, the materi

    3、als can be used as a primer on the underbody forvery small spots which due to unavoidable process conditions, e.g. mountingof body skids, are only degreased, zinc phosphated or electrocoated.SK-M99J9589-A is a waterborne stone peck resistant material.SK-M99J9589-C is a two pack material and has only

    4、 to be applied afteraddition of polyisocyanate hardener SK-M99J9610-A.2. APPLICATIONThe material will be mainly applied by pneumatic or airless spraying,mainly on smaller areas and on various substrates where high stone peckresistance is required.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 COMPOSITION3.1.1 VehicleSK-M99J958

    5、9-A: Waterborne synthetic resinsSK-M99J9589-C: Polyester with hydroxyl groups, capable ofreaction with polyisocyanate3.1.2 Mixing Ratio with SK-M99J9610-A(SK-M99J8589-C only)As specified by the vendor, preferably 3:1 (by weight).3.1.3 Pot Life, min 10 h/20 C(SK-M99J9589-C only withhardener SK-M99J96

    9、thematerial as received shall not gel or liver upon standing andmust be free from settling which cannot be dispersed bynormal agitation. The viscosity of the material shall notincrease in excess of 20 seconds when tested according toFLTM EU-BI 2-3.3.3 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS3.3.1 SubstrateUse tes

    10、t panels prepared in accordance with SK-M99J9587-A,sections 3.3.4.1. (Version A) and 3.3.4.2 (Version B). Inthe center of one half of the test panel clean an area about20 mm diameter to bare metal or electrocoat as required,using a knife, rotating wire brush and sanding paper. Finalsanding should be

    12、e test panels prepared in accordance withSK-M99J9587-A, section 3.3.4.1 (Version A) andclean an area to bare metal as described in 3.3.1.Sand the half of the test panel with simulateddamaged area to improve the adhesion of the repairmaterial. Use 360 grit paper.Apply the following materials to the d

    13、amaged andsurrounding areas and to about one half of the testpanel in such a manner as to achieve a neat repair.Avoid overspray as much as possible.Unavoidable overspray should be removed by approvedprocesses, e.g. using a clean cloth saturated withsolvent as for SK-M99J9589-A demineralized water.Us

    14、e 360 grit sanding paper to obtain a smoothtransition between the damaged and thesurrounding area. The final enamel coat should bepolished if necessary.Spray one coat of approximately 10 - 15 micrometredry film thickness of repair primer SK-M6J9566-A,flash off 3 minutes and bake 10 minutes at 130 Cm

    15、etal temperature.Spray SK-M99J9589-A/C in sufficient dry filmthickness, flash off for 3 minutes and bake 10minutes at 130 C metal temperature.After cooling to room temperature spray repairprimer S-M6J57-A or SK-M6J9565-A as in use in theplant concerned in a dry film thickness of about 10- 15 microme

    16、ter, and flash off for 1 minute.Spray current production enamel, white wet-on-wetwith a/m repair primer according to enamel materialspecification and bake according to same (10minutes at 130 C metal temperature).3.3.2.2 Version BProceed according to section 3.3.2.1, Version A,but with the following

Spray current production enamel, white,according to material specification and bake10 minutes at 100 C metal temperature.3.3.2.3 Version CProceed according to section 3.3.2.1, Version A,but with the following exceptions:Clean an area to electroco

Version DProceed according to section 3.3.2.2, Version B,but with the following exception:Clean an area to electrocoat primer as described in3.3.1. After exposure panels shall exhibit neitherblistering, peelin

    28、g, checking nor film breakdown due todefects caused by SK-M99J9589-A/C. Evidence of chalking isacceptable if in accordance with the initial sample on whichapproval was originally granted.3.7.4 Temperature Cycling TestTest panels prepared according to section 3.3.2 shall besubjected three times to th

    29、e following cycle:3 h + 80 +/- 2 C1 h room temperature3 h - 40 +/- 2 C1 h room temperature16 h + 38 +/- 2 C, 98 +/- 2 % relative humidityAfter last cycle leave test panels at room temperature for 3to 4 hours prior to evaluation.No cracking or other surface deterioration caused by thestone peck resis

    32、 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inall characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Prior to making any change in the properties, composition,construction, color, processing or labeling of the materialoriginally app

    33、roved under this specification, whether or not suchchanges affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engin

    34、eeringactivity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Materials Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4

    35、. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMaterials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity.

    36、 Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstratingfull compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults,

    37、 not nominal values), the material designation and code number, andtest specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amaterial will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications.
