、of 2 COIL SPRINGS S-M2P4522-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE This specification defines the quality of the painted finish for automotive coil springs. 2. APPLICATION This paint performance is specified where elasticity and gloss along with described color for identification are necessary. It
、 is specified for suspension coil springs, engine valve springs, seat springs and assemblies and other coil springs where required. 3. QUALITY The quality required is that obtained with best commercial practice to meet the requirements of this performance specification as follows: 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.
、0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 CLEANING All parts must be free from oily or alkaline residues, fingerprints, rust and dirt. 3.2 ENAMEL 3.2.1 Baked
、 alkyd enamel black of identifying color or 3.2.2 Baked waterborne paint black or identifying color. 3.3 FILM THICKNESS, MIN (FLTM BI 117-01) 20 micron Note: If it is not possible to measure film thickness on parts, test panels may be used. Test panels shall be processed concurrently with parts. Aft
、er drying determine film thickness at the center of the panel. 3.4 AGEING All parts shall be aged 16 hours at 45 C or 72 hours at room temperature before testing. 7、3.5 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 3.5.1 Initial Hardness The material shall be sufficiently cured at time of packing to withstand normal handling and shipping without damage. Any tackiness or printing resulting from hard pressure with flat thumb shall be cause for rejection. 3.5.2 Adhesion No more than 20% fl
、aking or chipping when tested according to FLTM BI 106-01 (Method B). 3.5.3 Salt Fog Resistance (FLTM BI 103-01) The paint finish shall resist 72 hours salt fog exposure without blistering or rust creepage. Note: When it is not feasible to test the actual part because of its size, test panels may be
、 substituted. Test panels shall be processed concurrently with parts and shall be representative of parts with respect to substrate, cleaning, paint thickness and bake. 3.5.4 Appearance Coated parts shall be approved by Quality Control to meet the requirements defined by this specification. Parts sh
、all be equal to the approved sample concerning color, gloss and leveling. 4. DETERIORATION OF QUALITY Any deterioration, caused by process limitations, is not permitted. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. All revisions to this specification must be approved by the affected product engineering office.
