    27、es the general requirements for metric cotter pins intended for use in clevis pins and with slotted nuts. 2.0 Head: Slight deviations in head contours are permissible, however, the outside diameters given shall be adhered to with no sharp tool marks at the junction of head and shank. 3.0 Length The

    28、length of pin, L, shall be measured parallel to the axis of pin, from the plane of contact of a ring gage (See Figure) with the head of pin to end of prong or pin as depicted in the dimensional specification. The ring gage shall have a hole of diameter equal to the nominal pin size plus or minus 0.0

    29、3 mm. The permissible break or rounding of the gaging edges of gage hole shall not exceed 0.13 mm. Pin shall be inserted into the ring gage with finger pressure (force not to exceed 2.0 N).     35、on or Rockwell equipment in a manner that avoids the effects of pin flexibility. Hardness requirement (Rc scale) are shown in Table 2.     36、 - Finishing processes and controls appropriate to avoid embrittlement in parts of this hardness shall be employed - See Finish Specifications. PERFORMANCE - The shear test shall be performed in a fixture in which the pin support member and the member for applying load shall have holes with diameter

    37、s as recommended for the pin and shall have a hardness of Rockwell C 58 minimum. The clearance between the supporting members and the load member shall not exceed 0.15 and the shear plane shall be at least one pin diameter away from each end and at least two diameters apart. Pins too short to be tes

    38、ted in double shear shall be tested by shearing two pins simutaniously in single shear. Speed of testing shall not exceed 13 mm min. Pins shall be tested to failure. The maximum load applied to the pin coincident with or prior to pin failure shall be recorded as double shear strongth of the pin. Pins tested for shear strength shall show a ductile shear without longitudinal cracks. WORKMANSHIP - Pins shall be free from burrs, loose scale, seams notches, sharp edges and corners and any other defects affecting serviceability. JUNE 1982 Product Englneerlng PAGE MJ-950.03
