OVERLAP SHEAR ADHESION TEST FOR ADHESIVES AND SEALANTS Application This procedure is used to determine the adhesive pr

    2、operties of bonding materials to automotive body substrates. Apparatus Required Tensile Test Machine Instron or equivalent with an accuracy of 0.5 % of the range used. Note: Jaws of tensile tester must be capable of gripping test coupon (refer to Figure 1) without incurring slippage which could adve

    3、rsely affect test validity. Oven A mechanical convection oven capable of obtaining 204 C metal temperature on body steel (0.89 mm nominal thickness) within 8 to 10 minutes upon insertion in a preheated oven. Blue M Model No. POM-166A-GX or equivalent. Bulldog Clips No. 1 (32 mm long) Template Must b

    4、e equal to thickness of test material ( 1.5 mm) specified in the applicable Engineering Material Specification. Refer to para 4 of the Procedure of this test method. Materials Required Test Panels 25 x 75 mm coupons from each substrate specified by the Engineering Material Specification. Steel Wire

    5、Must be equal to the thickness of the test material (# 1.5 mm) specified in the applicable Engineering Material Specification. Refer to para 4 of the Procedure of this test method. Petroleum Naphtha Caution: Low flash point; refer to Fire Control Bulletin No. 18. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BV 101-0

Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of

    7、 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure Preparation of Test Assemblies: 1. Condition coupons and test material for 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity. 2. Clean the

    8、 test coupons with petroleum naphtha or equivalent solvent. (Prepare a minimum of 3 assemblies (2 coupons per assembly) for each test condition and exposure). 3. Apply a uniform film coating of the oil or drawing compound onto the test coupon (specified by the Engineering Material Specification) usi

    9、ng a pipe cleaner or equivalent to one side of each coupon. (FLTM BZ 150-11 may be used for steps 1 through 3 if specified.) 4. Apply test material to one end (25 mm) of a prepared coupon. . Insert wire spacers into the test material to maintain material bondline thicknesses that are specified to be

    10、 less than 1.5 mm. . Use a template as a spacer of the appropriate thickness for material bondline thicknesses that are specified to be thicker than 1.5 mm. 5. Carefully position the end of another prepared coupon over the parallel to the coupon with the applied material to form a 650 mm2 overlap bo

    11、nd area (otherwise specified area). (Refer to Figure 1.) 6. Squeeze the coupons together with adequate pressure to obtain the specified bond thickness. 7. Remove excess material that was squeezed out from coupon surface after assembly. 8. To assist in holding the coupon assembly together, attach two

    12、 bulldog clips at the bonded area (as shown in Figure 1). 9. Condition coupon assemblies prepared with heat cure test materials for 1 h minimum at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity and then cure the assemblies as specified in the Engineering Material Specification. Condition the coupon assemblies for 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity before pull testing or subjecting to “environmental exposure“ (specified in the applicable Engineering Material Specific

    14、ation). . Coupon assemblies that are subjected to environmental exposure shall be conditioned for 72 h at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity prior to pull testing. 11. Conduct a shear pull test on each assembly on the tensile tester at a rate of 25 mm per minute. 12. Report results as speci

    15、fied in the applicable Engineering Material Specification. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly.
