A perforated porcelain disc is fused to the wall of this tube at the lower end appr oximately 40 mm from the bottom, and a line is marked on the tube exactly 100 mm above the surface of the disc. When filled to the 100 mm mark, the tube holds 15.7 mL of the sample. This part must be custom

Ice All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested u

12、nder the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Dry activated carbon sample to be tested for 6 h minimum at 150 +/ - 2 C. 2. Fill aspirator bottle with No. 6 - 8 mesh activated carbon. Note: This wil l remove oil and other vapors from the air stream. 3. Fill two aspirator bottles m

13、arked “D“ with No. 8 mesh calcium chloride and glass wool. 4. Pour carbon tetrachloride into bubbling bottles. 5. Put cracked ice into insulated box (F). 6. Adjust water in box (J) holding carbon sample tube so that it can be held to 25 C. 7. Weigh activity tube and record weight. 8. Pour ten cm 3 o

14、f sample of activated carbon which has been dried at 150 +/ - 2 C for 6 h in the activity tube and weigh and record weight. 9. Hook activity tube containing sample into the system. 10. Start the air into the system at 34.5 kPa and into graduate (B) containing 50 mm of mercury. This saturates the air

15、 with carbon tetrachloride. 11. Pass the saturated air through the activate d carbon sample at a velocity of 450 - 500 centimeters per minute linear flow. 12. Maintain the sample of activated carbon at 25 C throughout the test. 13. Pass the saturated air through the sample for 60 minutes, then rewei

16、gh. 14. After the first 60 m inute interval, connect the sample tube to the apparatus for 10 minutes and reweigh. Repeat until there is no further increase in weight. Note: Usually there is no increase in weight after the first 60 minutes. Weight of tube and sample minus weight of tube equal the wei

17、ght of the sample. Total increase in weight of sample divided by the original weight of sample x 100 is the activity, or percent. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly . Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
