SCOPE The material defined by this specification is high quality carbon steel wir

    3、e processed by cold reduction and precoated to meet the physical requirements shown below. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for use in the manufacture of mechanical springs subjected to high stress and moderate operating temperatures (120 C). 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQ

    4、UIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 CHEMICAL COMPOSITION, % Carbon 0.70 - 1.00 Manganese 0.20 - 0.60 Sulphur 0.03 max Phosphorus 0.03 max Silicon 0.12 - 0.30 3.2 MEC

    5、HANICAL Tensile strength must conform to ASTM A 228. 3.3 WORKMANSHIP Shall be uniform in quality and temper and shall not be wavy or crooked. 3.4 SURFACE CONDITION The surface as received shall be smooth and free from defects such as seams, pits, rust, die marks, scale, scratches and other imperfect

    6、ions tending to impair the use of the wire for springs. The defects may be revealed by any recognized method.     7、zation shall not exceed 0.03 mm per 1.6 mm cross- sectional diameter. 3.6 WIRE DIMENSIONAL VARIATION Round wire shall not exceed the following size variation: Size of Wire, in (mm) Allowable Variation, in (mm) 0.026 (0.66) & smaller +/- 0.0003 (0.008) 0.027 - 0.063 (0.69 - 1.60) +/- 0.0005 (0.013) 0

    8、.064 (1.63) & over +/- 0.0001 (0.03) The wire shall not be out of round by more than one-half the total allowable size variation. 3.7 SURFACE FINISH The wire shall be supplied with three surface finishes: . ESW-M5A2-B White Liquor Finish To be specified where corrosion during use is not a problem. T

    9、his finish will provide a small amount of corrosion protection during shop manufacturing operations. ESW-M5A3-B can be used in place of ESW-M5A2-B in all cases. . ESW-M5A3-B Tinned Finish: Wire to be tinned per performance specification WSB-M1P10-B. 3.8 FINISHED PART REQUIREMENTS 3.8.1 Manufacturing

    10、 Requirements Springs manufactured from this material shall be stress relieved per Manufacturing Process Standard HT 1-7 to produce dimensionally stable parts under maximum operating temperatures. This stress relieving process shall not adversely affect the mechanical properties of the material. 3.8.2 Dimensional Stability Spring stability shall be such that no detrimental change in free height or number of coils shall occur when spring is heated to 200 C for 2 h in a free state.
