SCOPE This specification establishes the performance and product requirements for packaged energy conserving automotive service fill engine oils exceeding the mini

    3、mal requirements of American Petroleum Institute (API) service category “SF“ to be marketed under the Motorcraft trademark. These oils are intended to give additional protection against sludge, varnish, wear, oxidation and corrosion, while providing fuel economy benefits. This specification is not i

    4、ntended to limit the material to any specific formulation, but rather defines the total performance required of these engine oils. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for service fill oils used for lubrication in gasoline powered automotive spark ignition engines consistent wit

    5、h the original equipment manufacturers lubrication recommendations. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 Shall meet all the requiremen

    6、ts (para 2, 3 and 4) of ESR-M2C127 (latest revision), except: (1) The following numbers supersede the applicable values for the engine sequence tests.     8、ns or m) Cam only, max 50.8 L-38 Total Bearing Weight Loss, mg, max 30 (2) The SAE 10W-40 viscosity grade only, shall not be required to satisfy the requirements of API Service Category “CC“. 3.2 Shall be formulated to provide increased fuel economy by reducing internal engine friction without compr

    9、omising any of the requirements defined above. Supplier must furnish to the affected product engineering office, for their permanent retention, complete test results, certified by a qualified and authorized representative of the supplier, demonstrating full compliance with the latest published versi

    10、on of the ASTM recommended procedure for evaluation of energy conserving engine oils. Certified data from previous versions of the ASTM recommended procedures may be considered acceptable in lieu of the latest version at the discretion of the affected product engineering office. The only excepting t

    11、o the above requirement for energy conserving documentation is the SAE 5W-30 viscosity grade which may be qualified by providing complete data on the corresponding SAE 10W-30 or SAE 10W-40 formulations in the above referenced ASTM test procedures. The SAE 5W-30 viscosity formulation may be qualified

    12、 by supplied certification that it contains the identical viscosity index improver and the same amount of identical additive agents such as detergents, dispersants, oxidation inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, etc., and are compounded with oils of the same base stock as the SAE 10W-30 or SAE 10W-40 l

    13、ubricants previously qualified. The supplier is responsible for providing adequate information to substantiate the equivalency of the base stocks, and must provide a written rationale supporting the read across of fuel economy prepared and signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the s

    14、upplier. 3.3 Must meet all the requirements of the American Petroleum Institute (API) necessary to qualify for use of the consumer language energy conserving and for use of the API donut symbol. The designation energy conserving and the donut symbol must be displayed on the container in a manner specified by the affected product engineering office.
