、- CORROSION INHIBITING ESB-M6J93-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a corrosion inhibiting wash primer. This material is composed of a blend of chromate pigments and suitable resins and solvents to provide the required adhesion and corrosion resist

、ance properties. This material is mixed thoroughly with ESB-M14J206-A Acid Catalyst Solvent before use. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for primers used in low visibility areas to provide good adhesion for black-out enamel topcoats on zinc substrates and other metal surface

、s where a phosphate coating cannot be applied. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF PRIMER 3.1.1 Non-Volatile,

Use of catalyzed primer after the 8 h period is not recommended. 3.2.3 Stability 3.2.3.1 Viscosity Stability (FLTM BI 111-01) The catalyzed primer shall not

、 exhibit agglomeration of pigment or vehicle on hard settling. The viscosity shall not increase more than 5 s after 6 h aging at 38 +/- 1 C in a sealed container. 3.2.3.2 Adhesion and Performance Stability The catalyzed primer, when applied during its working life, shall meet the adhesion requiremen

、ts of this specification. Test Method: Age catalyzed primer in a sealed container for 6 h at 38 +/- 1 C before preparing panels according to paragraph 3.3. Test for conformance to the following requirements. Adhesion (see paragraph 3.4.3) Water Resistance (see paragraph 3.5.1) 3.2.4 Toxicity This ma

、terial shall contain no benzol (benzene), chlorinated or toxic compounds, or hydrolyzable chlorine derivatives, nor have any obnoxious or objectionable odors. 3.3 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS Note: Duplicate panels must be prepared on two substrates. In addition, some tests must be performed on panels

Blow off entire painted surface with air at 25 - 30 psi (173 206 kPa), using a 3/32 in (2.4 mm) orifice and holding the

、 nozzle at approximately 45 and 1 - 2 in (25 - 50 mm) from the part attempting to remove enamel film at scribe marks. Removal of paint beyond 1/8 in (3 mm) from any scribe mark, blistering or peeling shall be cause for rejection. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for cla

、rification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. When mixed with the Acid Catalyst Solvent, ESB-M14J206-A, the catalyzed mixture has a pot life of approximately 8 h, hence, care should be taken to mix only that amount of material which will be used in an 8 h period. For satisfactory performance of this primer, it is essential that it be thinned only with Acid Catalyst Solvent, ESB-M14J206-A, supplied by the same vendor and that the mixing instructions be followed explicitly.
