APPLICATION This specification was released originally for paint used on truck chassis components and as a blackout paint on the radiator support at Louisville Truck

    3、Plant. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Quality System Requirements. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS IR

    4、spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 3.3

    5、CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONS All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 “C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. For all tests use, unphosphated panels unless noted otherwise. 3.7.2 Film Thickness, min (FLTM BI 117-01) 25.4 micrometers 3.7.3 Spraying Viscosity Reduce with water as recommended by supplier 3.7.4 Drying 3.7.4.1 Force dry 10 min at 80 “C prior to resistance tests (para 3.9).     11、 dry. 3.7.4.2 Air dry 30 min at R.T. - coating shall be tack-free. 3.8 FILM PROPERTIES 3.8.1 Adhesion to Bare Metal, max (FLTM BI 106-01) 3.8.2 Adhesion to E-Coat/Spray Primer/ EnamelNinyl Sealer (FLTM BI 106-01) Grade 4 Grade 4 The coating shall be tested for adhesion as described above, over curre

    12、nt production sealers, primers and enamels as specified by the currently released ESB-M2P4 specification. 3.9 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES 3.9.1 Gasoline, Hot Oil and Ethylene Glycol Resistance Upon removal from test liquid, the painted panel shall show no blistering and no more than slight softening or du

Immerse the lower half of a prepared painted test panel into the following test liquids at the temperature shown for a period of 1 h: O WSE-M2C903-A2 Oil or equivalent 0 M14J503-A, Petroleum Naphtha 35 “C or equivalent O WSS-M97B818-A2 Coolant Page 3 of 4 Copyright O 2001, Ford Global Technol

No corrosion or loss of paint adhesion allowed beyond 3 mm from the scribe mark. 3.9.3 Resistance to Scab Corrosion (FLTM BI 123-01, 25 t

    15、est cycles) Bimetallic split coach joint panels (ref. to para 5.1.5) prepared according to para 3.7, shall be scribed to base metal across the two substrates. After exposure, there shall be no more than 10 mm rust, blister creepage, or loss of adhesion at the joint of the bimetallic coach joint. Sta

    16、ndard steel panels prepared according to para 3.7, shall be scribed to the base metal. After exposure there shall be no blistering, rusting or loss of adhesion more than 3 mm from the scribe line. 3.10 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all ch

    17、aracteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to making any changes to the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify the affected

    18、Purchasing, and Materials Engineering activities (with reasons) of the proposed changes. Upon notification of the Company, further instructions will be provided. Note: Suppliers should be prepared to provide test data and samples demonstrating compliance to this specification, if requested. Substanc

    19、e restrictions imposed by regulations or Company direction applies to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are identified in Restricted Substance Management Standard WSS-M99P9999-A1. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification for direct supply to the Compa

    20、ny must have prior approval. Certain materials subcontracted by part suppliers may also require prior approval. These include materials critical to the Companys business for regulatory, safety, environmental or compatibility requirements or contractual agreements. Suppliers desiring approval of thei

    21、r materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from Purchasing, Design or Materials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification.
