    3、MER, PAINTABLE ESB-M2D246-A3 HIGH MODULUS NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The materials defined by these specifications are thermoplastic modified elastomers. Body components molded or extruded in these materials can maintain class “A“ surfaces and are generally painted body color. 2. APPLICA

    4、TION These specifications were released originally for materials used in impact system related components such as bumper sight shields, and may be specified for any applications requiring paintable elastomers within the modulus ranges specified below. Three room temperature (23 C) modulus ranges are

    5、 defined. ESB-M2D246-A1 Low Modulus 20,000 psi (138 MPa) max ESB-M2D246-A2 Intermediate Modulus 20,000 50,000 psi (138-345 MPa) ESB-M2D246-A3 High Modulus 50,000 psi (345 MPa) min 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to

    6、 the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 MOLDED TEST SLAB The following mechanical properties requirements apply to test specimens prepared from unpainted slabs measuring 0.100 - 0.125 in (2.5 - 3.2 mm) in thickness.     12、. This test is required for initial material qualification only. The Ransburgh Meter No. 236 may be used for quality control purposes with meter readings of 140 desired. A range of 90 minimum and 160 maximum are absolute limits. These tests must be conducted on properly prepared samples. ENGINEERING

    14、 property requirements on molded parts must be specified on the engineering drawing or on the corresponding engineering specification, along with the locations on the part from which the test specimens are to be prepared. Test specimens may be prepared from parts before or after painting (as specifi

    15、ed with the requirements); but once painted, the coating shall not be removed. 3.2.2 Paintability Painted substrate must comply with all requirements of ESB-M2P105-B; Paint Performance, Elastomeric, Exterior. 3.2.4 Special Requirements for Unpainted Surfaces Exposed to Exterior Weathering These requ

    16、irements may be waived if all areas of the finished parts exposed to exterior weathering are painted and any unpainted substrate is nonvisible when in vehicle position. 3.2.4.1 Color Stability Rating 3 minimum per AATCC Gray Scale for evaluating change in color after 1,600 h weatherometer exposure p

    17、er FLTM BO 101-01 and also after 1 year Florida exposure, 5 south, direct weathering inland. No color tone change or surface crazing and no cracks when bent 90. Slight chalking and slight loss of gloss will be allowed provided an acceptable appearance can be achieved with conventional car finish cle
