SCOPEThe material

    2、 defined by this sp ecification is a pigmented lacquer suitablefor us e as exterior finish for high energy absorbent thermoplasticsubstrates.2. APPLICATIONThis spe cification was released originally for paint used as an exteriorfinish for thermoplastic bumpers.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 COMPOSITION3.1.1 Res

    3、in Solids: The vehicle solids shall be modified acrylicthermoplastic resins.3.1.2 Pigment: The pigments shall be blended and balanced so thatthe finished film matches the Ford Motor Company master panelin color, luster, and meets the requirements of thisspecification for durability.3.1.3 Specific Co

    4、mpositionWhen i t is necessary to obtain specific data regardinglacqu er formulations, it is understood that suppliers willfurnish such data on request.3.1.4 VolatileProportions of Solvents : The proportions of solvents in thevolatile portion shall be so arranged that the enamel willlevel out satisf

    5、actorily on spray application. T he volatilityof the solvents is to b e selected to provide a dried film of20 micrometre minimum without sagging and with satisfactoryfreedom from roughness or dry spray. The volatile portionshall contain sufficient active solvents to give satisfactoryadhesion when th

    6、e enamel is applied over a previously bakedcoat of the enamel.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONESB-M16J6-AWP 3948-b Page 2 of 7 3.2 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES3.2.1 Non-Volatile Solids(FLTM BI 102-01)Shall be established by the vendor on the initial approvedproduction batch. Tolerance to be +/- 0.5 %.3.2.2

    7、 Viscosity, Package(FLTM BI 11-2)Shall be established by the vendor on the initial approvedproduction batch. Tolerance shall be +/- 5 s.3.2.3 Shelf StabilityShall not jell or liver upon standing and must be free fromsettlng which is not dispersed by normal agitation.3.2.3.1 Oven Stability(FLTM BI 10

    8、2-03)The viscosity of the material shall not increasemore than 10 s.3.2.4 Hiding Power, Dry(FLTM BI 101-03)The material shall have complete visual hiding black andwhite checkerboard at 20 micrometre dry film thickness.3.2.5 Weight Per Volume, min at 23 +/- 2 C(ASTM D 1475)Shall be established by the

    9、 supplier on the initial approvedsample. Tolerance shall be +/- 0.01 kg/L.3.3 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS(FLTM BI 103-02, Method E, except use plasticin place of steel)In addition to the requirements of the test method, the followingshall apply:3.3.1 SubstrateUnle ss otherwise specified, use injectio

    10、n molded thermo-plast ic panels 127 x 127 x 2.5 mm, representative ofproduction material.     11、the supplier3.3.3 Spray Viscosity 15 - 20 s(FLTM BI 11-2, #4 Ford Cup)3.3.4 Film Thickness 20 - 56 micrometre(FLTM BI 117-01, using Mark II TookeGage or equivalent)3.3.5 DryingThis material shall be baked 30 minutes at 77 C minimum forproduction painting. For paint repair, this material shalldry dus

    12、t free in 25 minutes when the work area is properlyventilated and a temperature of 23 +/- 2 C is maintained.3.3.6 AgingAll panels shall be aged 24 h minimum at 23 +/- 2 C beforetesting.3.3.7 OverlayIf a n overlay paint (e.g., black over color coat) is to beused, panels of each co lor and the overlay

    13、 shall be preparedand cured following the bake schedule proposed for the part.Th ese panels shall be tested per para 3.5.1, 3.6.2, and3.6.4.3.4 APPEARANCE3.4.1 ColorThe co lor shall match the Ford Motor Company master panelapproved by Styling.3.4.2 Gloss(FLTM BI 110-01)The gloss shall be specified b

    14、y means of a letter suffix tothe color number assigned by Styling, as follows:B - 80 +/- 4 F - 35 +/- 3C - 70 +/- 4 G - 20 +/- 3D - 62 +/- 3 H - 10 +/- 3E - 50 +/- 3 J - 6 max3.4.3 GeneralTh e coating system shall cure to a presentable serviceablefilm s howing no craters, pinholes, seedines, or abno

    16、ss of adhesion over sanded or unsanded color coat.3.6 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES3.6.1 Polish Resistance(FLTM BI 10-2, 60 deg Glossmeter)The pain ted panel shall exhibit no greater change in glossthan 10 units.3.6.2 Chip resistance, minChipp ing shall not exceed Fig. 2B for either size orfrequency when te

    17、sted 10 cycles per SAE J400.3.6.3 Abrasion Resistance(FLTM BN 108-02)10 00 cycles minimum per 25 micrometre film thickness usingCS-10 wheels and 500 g load.3.6.4 Water Resistance, min 240 hTest Method: Immerse the panels for 240 h in distilled ordeionized water maintained at 32 +/- 1 C as desc ribed

    18、 in FLTMBI 104-01. Remove parts from the water and immed iately scribean “X“ through the fini sh to the substrate. Dry the scribedarea with a paper towel, cloth, or air (oil andmoisture-free) and immediately apply, with firm thumbpressure a minimum of 1300 mm2 of 3M, 898 tape. Remove thetape by pull

    19、ing one end at a 90 deg angle at moderate speed.The following conditions shall be basis for rejection. Removal of paint beyond 1.6 mm from any scribe line. No greater loss of

    26、 gloss ispermi tted than equivalent approved production colors. Thissp ecimen may be a current production part, a similar orprevious production part, or a test plaque. In all case s, thespecimen under test shall be eq uivalent to current productionmaterials and processing. No i ncrease of brittlenes

    27、s or lossof adh esion is permitted, when tested per para 3.5.1, andspecim ens shall be free from evidence of cracking, checking,blistering or peeling after exposure.3.6.10.1 Florida Exposure 12 months at 5 deg(Miami Area) facing south.3.6.10.2 Accelerated Weathering 500 h in Xenon(SAE J1960) Weather

    28、ometer3.6.11 Water Resistance After WeatheringAfter panels have been subjected to either Florida orWeatherometer exposure as specified in para 3.6.11, they shallbe t ested for 24 h water resistance as described in para3.6.4. Peeling of the paint film in excess of 3 mm from thescribe mark shall be ca

    29、use for rejection. Examine forblistering. Blistering in rinse pattern obviously due to panelpreparation shall not be cause for rejection provided ad hesionis satisfactory. General blistering is considered failure.3.7 STATISTICAL PROCESSSuppli ers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality Syst

    30、emStan dard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedther ein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatistical tools must be used to analyze process/produc t data so thatvariation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.8 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supp

    32、of the materialorigi nally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchanges affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxi cology and theaff ected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes andobta in the writte

    33、n approval of the Materials Engineering activity.Test data , test samples and a new code identification are to besubmitted with the request.Substa nce restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictio ns are definedin En gineering Mate

    34、rial Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1, unless adifferent suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMaterials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring app

    35、roval oftheir mat erials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffecte d Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivi ty its own laboratory report to the specification (test results, notnomina

    36、l values), the material designation and code number, and testspecimen s for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approved Source List.5. GENERAL INFORMATIONTh e information below is provided for clarification and assistance inmeeting the requirements

    37、to the specification.5.1 FLAMMABILITYThis m aterial represents a potential fire and/or health hazard. TheMan ufacturing Engineering Department shall notify both the PlantSecuri ty and the Safety Units of its presence in the Plant to assurethat proper fire and/or health precautions are provided.
