SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a molding grade of heat stabilized, modified nylon 6/6. The material has good dry toughness, good moldability and a lower moisture absorption than the s

    3、tandard 6/6. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used in molding vacuum fittings which must operate continuously at high temperatures (over 93 C but not to exceed 135 C for continuous operation). 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Ma

    4、terial suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 MOLDING PELLETS 3.1.1 Melting Point 250 - 266 C (ASTM D 789) 3.1.2 Specific Gravity 1.09 - 1.11 (ASTM D 792) 3.1.3 Moisture Content, by weight, max 0.20% (ASTM D 789)

    5、 3.2 MOLDED TEST SPECIMEN Tests are to be run on dry as molded specimens. 3.2.1 Tensile Strength, min 7,500 psi (52 MPa) (ASTM D 638, speed “C“) 3.2.2 Impact Strength, Izod, min 2.0 ft lb/in (107 J/m) (ASTM D 256, notched) 3.2.3 Deflection Temperature, min (ASTM D 648) At 66 psi (455 kPa) 149 C At 2

    6、64 psi (1820 kPa) 54 C ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONESA-M4D267-A Printed copies are uncontrolled Copyright 2006, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 2 of 2 3.2.4 Thermal Aging Test Three 1/8 in (3.2 mm) thick tensile bars will be heat aged in an air circulating oven at 150 +/- 2 C for 100 h. The

    7、 specimens shall not be allowed to touch the sides of the oven. After cooling to room temperature the average tensile strength must be equal to or greater than 75% of original. 3.3 MOLDED PART 3.3.1 Appearance Parts molded from this material shall be free from visible porosity and voids. Parts may b

    8、e sectioned for sub-surface examination or may be checked by a density gradient tube. 3.3.2 Melting Point 250 - 266 C (ASTM D 789) 3.3.3 Specific Gravity 1.09 - 1.11 (ASTM D 792) 3.3.4 Heat Stabilizer Additive Present Test Method: Ash 1 g sample in a covered porcelain crucible (size 17H is suitable)

    9、 using a muffle furnace at a temperature of 500 - 520 C. Be certain temperature does not exceed 530 C. Overheating will volatilize the stabilizer. Allow the crucible to cool to room temperature and then add 1 - 2 cc of 5 molar hydrochloric acid, swishing to wash sides of crucible with acid. Evaporat

    10、e to dryness, preferably on a steam bath or by very gentle heating with a low flame. Do not overheat. Dissolve the stabilizer by warming in 3 - 4 drops of distilled water. Greenish yellow color may occur at this point, which indicates the presence of a heat stabilizer. If the color does not occur, p

    11、roceed as follows. Withdraw by means of a capillary tube and place on a piece of #40 Whatman filter paper. Add directly 2 - 3 drops of a 5% solution of benzoin oxime in absolute ethanol (color complexing agent). Hold the filter paper over concentrated ammonium hydroxide for 2 min. A faint greenish y

    12、ellow color indicates the presence of a heat stabilizer. 3.4 QUALITY CONFORMANCE 3.4.1 Initial Qualification Tests Each supplier to this specification must have its initial shipment completely tested to all the above requirements by a Ford Motor Company laboratory and the results of such tests concu

    13、rred by the affected product engineering office prior to shipment. 3.4.2 Production Shipment Molded parts from each lot (a lot is all the parts produced in an average production day not to exceed an 8 h production period on each line producing Ford parts) shall be tested and certified by the supplie

    14、r to the requirements of para. 3.3.1, 3.3.2, 3.3.3, and 3.3.4. 3.4.3 Periodic Qualification Tests Every 3 months each supplier is required to perform complete qualification testing on each part supplied to Ford Motor Company. The testing may be performed either by a Ford or supplier laboratory and records retained for review by the cognizant quality control activity.
