、entation of EN ISO 21003-2:2008+A1:2011. It was derived from ISO 21003-2:2008,incorporating amendment 1:2011. It supersedes BS EN ISO 21003-2:2008,which is withdrawn. The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted by Technical CommitteePRI/88, Plastics piping systems, to Subcommittee PRI/88/2,

、 Plastic piping forpressure applications. A list of organizations represented on this committee can be obtained onrequest to its secretary. The UK Committee would like to emphasise that compliance with this BritishStandard does not necessarily mean that products are fit for non-potable hotwater pipes

、.The requirements contained in this standard are not necessarily indicative ofall the performance requirements, or the suitability of pipework for the serviceconditions likely to be encountered in a particular pipework application in theUK. In particular: This standard does not replace BS 7291 parts

、 1, 2 and 3 (Class S) whichcontain detailed requirements for performance and contact with drinkingwater for pipes, fittings and joints manufactured from Polybutylene and PEXmaterials. (i) The normal maximum operating cold water supply pressure in theUK is 12.5 bar, a pressure that some application c

、lasses of pipe inthis standard do not meet. (ii) This standard does not specifically describe push-fit joints that arethe predominant jointing method in the UK but defines mechanicalfittings in general. (iii) There is a disparity between the malfunction temperature (100 C)quoted in Table 1 of Part 1

、 of this standard and the malfunctiontemperatures applicable to boilers (110 C) conforming to BS EN 297:1994, BS EN 483:2000 and BS EN 625:1996. Current UKpractice can be found in BS 7291-1 which should be consulted whenapplying this standard. Pipe systems not conforming to BS 7291-1could be subject

、ed to temperatures in service for which they have notbeen tested. (iv) The unique and traditional practice in the UK is to use productscertified to BS 7291 Class S for all applications, as defined in BS 7291-1. This is recognized in the National Annex to BS EN 12828that requires the use of systems s

Requirements and test methods for material and components other than pipes are specified in ISO 21003-1 and ISO 21003-3. Characteristics relating

、 to fitness for purpose (mainly for joints) are covered in ISO 21003-5. ISO/TS 21003-7 gives guidance on the assessment of conformity. This part of ISO 21003 specifies the characteristics of pipes. Other system standards which, at the date of publication of this part of ISO 21003, had been published
