25、de) and covers the features necessary to enable a DVCR to record and reproduce PALplus signals. While all DVCRs must have the capability of recording andlor playback in SD (SP) mode, PALplus capability is optional. For this Part 8, the data structure of a track is defined by APT = 000b which consist
26、s of four areas as described in 4.3.2 in IEC 61834-1 and API = AP2 = AP3 = 000b. There are two methods for recording the PALplus signal on a DVCR: - method 1: record the partially encoded PALplus signal; - method 2: record the completely decoded PALplus signal. This part is concerned with “Method 1“
27、 (baseband helper recording) as this requires an extension to the DVCR SD specification IEC 61834-2. For “Method 2“ the DVCR is equipped with a built-in PALplus decoder and the SD specification IEC 61834-2 applies unchanged. 1.2 Normative references The following normative documents contain provisio

After certain processing, they are treated in the Y channel. The WSS signalling bits are rewritten and stored in the VAUX TR pack. The WHITE LEVEL REFERENCE
38、is also written in the VAUX TR pack. 7.2 Error correction code Same as IEC 61834-2. 7.3 Randomization pattern Same as IEC 61834-2. 7.4 Video structure 7.4.1 Helper signals a) Recording The helper signal and the helper reference burst in line 23 are demodulated on the U (B-Y) phase of the colour subc
39、arrier and processed as a Y signal before compression (refer to figure 1). A constant DC level is added to the demodulated helper signal and the helper reference burst signal, before recording (refer to figure 2). The “helper killer“ block can be incorporated to enable PALplus recording without the
40、helper (helper killer mode). The helper killer mode may optionally be used in some situations. In helper killer mode, b6 is set to “O“. Bit b5 should always be set to “O“, irrespective of the presence of a MACP decoder before recording. Optionally, the luminance level may be set to 32 and chrominanc
41、e levels to 128 in lines 60, 61, 62 and lines 372, 373, 374 (refer to figure 3). b) Playback The reproduced helper signal and the helper reference burst in line 23, after DC level correction, are modulated on the U (B-Y) phase of the colour subcarrier, and appear at the YIC output (S-terminal) as th
42、e C signal (refer to figure 4). c) Interface In the case of a YIC interface, the following signals appear at the output: - Y: luminance signal, WSS bits (line 23), the white reference signal (line 623); - C: chrominance signal, the modulated helper and helper reference signals. 0 BSI 25 October 2001

The WHITE LEVEL REFERENCE from line 623 is written in the VAUX TR pack (refer to figure 5). WSS signalling bits and WHITE LEVEL REFERENCE The WSS signalling bits
44、 in line 23 are encoded according to the contents of the VAUX TR pack, except for CGMS data. The CGMS priority is given to the CGMS in the VAUX SOURCE CONTROL pack.
