    33、r use with aggregate concrete and manufactured stone units. 5.3 Weighing instrument capable of weighing the whole unit or portions of it to an accuracy of O, 1 % of their mass. 6 Sampling The method of sampling shall be in accordance with the relevant part of EN 771. The minimum number of specimens

    34、shall be six, but a larger minimum number may be specified in the product specification, in which case that larger number shall be used. 7 Procedure 7.1 Determination of dry mass 7.1.1 Whole unit specimens Dry the test specimens to constant mass m+,u in a ventilated oven at a temperature of 70 O C f

    35、 5 O C (5.2) for aggregate concrete and manufactured stone masonry units or 105 O C f 5 O C (5.1) for clay, calcium silicate and autoclaved aerated concrete masonry units. Constant mass is reached, if during the drying process in two subsequent weighings with a 24 h interval, the loss in mass betwee

    36、n the two determinations is not more than 0,2 % of the total mass. Record the mass h,. 7.1.2 Portions of whole unit specimens Where representative portions are used, first weigh each whole unit specimen and record the mass (mo,“). Then obtain three representative solid portions, i.e. containing no e

    37、nclosed or exposed formed voids, of at least 100 g fi-om each whole unit specimen and weigh each group of three together. Record the mass of each group (mo,p,bt). Dry each group of three portions to constant mass following the procedure of 7.1.1 above. Record the mass of each group (mw,p,tot). Calcu

    39、units Determine the net volume using one of the following methods as appropriate a) For clay masonry units, by weighing in water as indicated in EN 772-3. b) For calcium silicate masonry units, by using sand filling as indicated in EN 772-9. c) For manufactured stone and solid aggregate concrete mas

    40、onry units, by subtracting the volume of all recesses or indentations, determined using a suitable measuring device, fiom the volume (Eength x width x height ) determined in accordance with EN 772-16. Express the net volume Vn,” to the nearest l O4 mm3. d) For aggregate concrete masonry units with f

    41、ormed voids, by the method of c) above, but in addition subtracting the volume of all voids. Express the net volume Vn,u to the nearest io4 mm3. Determine the net dry density of the masonry unit n,J using equation (3): Calculate the net dry density of each whole unit specimen to the nearest 5 kg/m3

    42、for densities up to 1 O00 kg/m3 and to the nearest 10 kg/m3 for densities over 1 O00 kgim3. Calculate the mean of the net dry densities of the specimens. 7.2.2 Representative portions of whole unit specimens Determine the net dry density of the parts as follows: - determine the dry mass of each port

Express the net dry density of the whole unit specimens to the nearest 5 kg/m3 for densities u

    45、p to 1 O00 kg/m3 and to the nearest 10 kg/m3 for densities over 1 O00 kg/m3. Calculate the mean of the net dry densities of the whole unit specimens. 7.3 Gross dry density Calculate the gross volume V, of the unit fiom the unit dimensions length, width and height (see EN 772-16) with a subtraction o

    46、f the volume of perforations, voids, recesses or indentations intended to be filled with mortar determined by measurement by any suitable method with the same accuracy of measurement as incorporated in EN 772-16. To find the gross dry density of the unit (pg,J see equation (5), divide the dry mass (

    47、mdiy,) obtained according to 7.1 by the gross volume (VJ of the unit: Express the gross dry density of each whole unit specimen to the nearest 5 kg/m3 for densities up to 1 000 kg/m3 and to the nearest 10 kgim3 for densities over 1 O00 kg/m3. Calculate the mean of the gross dry densities of the spec

    48、imens. 8 Test report The test report shall contain the following information: a) the number, title and date of issue of this European Standard; b) a description of the masonry unit to the relevant part of EN 771; c) the method of sampling and by which organization; d) date of receipt of the specimen

    49、s by the test laboratory; e) the date of testing the specimens; f) the number of specimens in sample and whether these are whole units or representative portions thereof; g) the individual and mean values of net dry density; h) the individual and mean values of gross dry density; i) remarks, if any.
