12、essure atomizing nozzles; Angle- and spray characteristics 3 Definitions 3.1 Atomizlng nozzle An atomizing nozzle Is a device in whlch fuel oll is atomfzed through trans- formation of pressure energy into kinetic energy. The atomizing nozzle is an essential part of the oil atomizing burner, and, tog
13、ether with the mixing device, it provldes a combustible Ofl/ar-mlXtUfC. In this standard atomizing nozzles are devices working without by-pass in ccm- pliance with the flow principle (Slmplexnottles). 3.2 Reference condltlons The reference conditions comprise test pressure, test temperature, vlscosl
14、ty, surface tension and density of the test oll at the time of the test, at speci- fied values at a point imnediately upstream of the nozzle. 3 3 Homl na1 throughput The nominal throughput it the mass flow expressed in kg/h at 10 bar. 3.4 Test pressure The oil pressure is measured imncdlately before

16、onents used for atomizing ical, thermal and chemical demands zzles shall be able to withstand the mechan- to which they are exposed during operation. The atomizing nozzle shall be free of manufacturing residues and other contamination, test oil excepted. During installation and maintenance, observed

TcSle 1 Nominal throughput 6 Testing 6.1 General After the tests for throughput, and the tests in respect of ENV 299 have been made wlth the reference oil as defined in 5.2, a flnal test for pressu
24、re resl- s:ance and temperature resistance shall be made. 6.2 Pressura resstanca test After deairatlon of the atomlzing nozzle the nozzle orifice shall be closed and a test pressure of 50 bar shall be applled for at least 5 min. The atomizing nozzle shall then be submitted to a visual check. 6.3 Ten
25、perature resistance test The ternoerature resistance shall be detemincd by exposing the atomizing nozzle, with Its strainer or filter, gradually up to a tmerature of 120 “C (the ajfll- mtlm time for the temperature increase is 15 min). The tmperaturc of 120 OC shall be keot constant for at least 15

27、ream of the atomlzing nozzle (see for example figure 2) Is composed of the following parts: - Oil tank - flow meter - pump, equipped with a pressure-regu - fast actlng toroidal valve to be sw - nozzle adapter atlng device tched on or off wlth a timer - oil collector to receive the atomized fuel oll
28、to which a welghing device is connected tci measure the throughput It shall be guaranteed that all CCnneCtlng pipes from the tank to the toroidal valve are always fllled with the test oll (fit a devlce to avoid back-flow, tank to be arranged at the upper part of the test rig.), so that the starting
29、tlme can be reduced and errors, resulting from mis-feeding, can be avolded. 6.4.2 Test spec1 fi cat1 ont The reference oll shall be examined frequently as to its characteristics and conformi ty to 5.2. By means of measuring devlces, fitted directly upstream of the atomizing nozzle, the oil-temperatu
30、re is recorded (sensor or thenno-elements) and the values of the atomizing pressure (pressure control devlcc) are Indicated. The measuring devices to detenlne to the oll-througput, the atomizing pressure and test circle may have a maximum measuring accuracy of i 0,4 X. 6.4.3 Test procedure Test with
31、 equipment as given In 6.4.1. (Example) The atcrniting nozzle to be tested Is screwed Into the adapter. The torodial valve is opened to regulate the pressure and the temperature. When the operational state 1s establlshed, the torodlal valve shall be closed for a moment to check the welght on the wel

Each sec%ion is connected at the lower part via an oll dlscharge pipe to a ver- tically positioned calibrated gauge, graduated up to 50 ml. The upper part of t
36、he tank 1s covered, the nozzle adapter shall be placed verti- cally In the centre of the cover: the adapter shall be adjustable upwards and downwards and shall be turnable for 360 degrees around Its vertlcal axis. The adapter axis shall colncide exactly wlth the centre of each of the 12 sections. 6.
37、6.2 Test procedure The nozzle to be tested 1s screwed Into the adapter. The distance between nozzle orifice and upper part of the center tube of the sections is 50 mn (sec figure 3). . The test shall be carrled out after an opeitlnq state dutlng which the atm- ltlng pressure Is set to 10 bar. Ouring
38、 the starting phase, the graduated gauges are covered, so that no raamcs oll may enter. The test begins as soon as the atomlzlng pressure has stabllized and when the vlscoslty of the test oil cornplles wlth the rcquirments fixed In 5.2. The gauges mal1 then be uncovered without lntertuptlng the atom
39、izing. The test is ccmoletcd as soon as one of the gauges is fllled wlth50 ml of oil. The gauges Shall then be covered and the atantzing be Interrupted. 6.6.3 Evaluatlon of results The dlstrlbution of the spray pattern 1s characterized by the level of oil crn- tained In the 12 gauges. The distributi
40、on of test oil shall be recorded for em of t9e gauges and the arithmetic mean value be determined. This mean value is campared wlth the abtalned lowest value.
