    18、 4/WG3“Materialrecovery“. Materialrecyclingofusedpackagingshouldbeseenwithintheoveralllifecycleofproductsandpackaging.The purposeofpackagingisthecontainment,protection,distributionandpresentationofproductsincludinginstructions astotheiruse.Amajorroleisoneofpreventionofdamage/wastageoftheproductconta

Followingitsfunctionalrole,thepackagingwasteisrequiredtobesuitableforrecoverythroughatleastoneofthe wastemanagementoptionasdescribedinEN13427.Oneofthisoptionismaterialrecycling. TheWorkingGroupWG3hasproducedEN13437whichdefinestherecyclingprocessforpackagingintheform ofaseriesoffl

    20、owdiagrams.ThisEuropeanStandardusesthegeneralformoftheflowdiagramfromthatstandard tomakeitsproposals.TheproposalismadewithinthecontextofthePackagingandPackagingWasteDirective 94/62/EC.AnnexAshowshowtheprinciplesmaybeusedinamoregeneralcontext.EN13440:2003(E) 5 1Scope ThisEuropeanStandardestablishesam
